Crazy as a Loom

Saturday, July 9, 2011

Smart shopping.

Saturday.
Time for a little garage sale action.
Got a few good buys.

$3.00
Not bad, eh??

You can never have enough shelves with hooks, in my opinion.

And this basket.  25 cents.  Seriously.

There are so many uses for this one, I wish I had one for every loom.
And the desk!

And this jar.  The bottom is blue, and they put a clear top on it, but I don't mind, since it was another 25 cents, and I have a stray blue top.

And this little carafe caught my eye.  I love its cheery yellow color.
25 cents.

Great for lemonade, or iced tea with cut up lemons.

But my favorite buy of the day was this cake stand.
I am not much of a frills kind of girl, but for some reason, I have a passion for clear glassware.
And I loved this on sight.
$7.00

But brand new on Amazon, the same cake stand sells for $24.90 plus shipping, and since this one is in perfect condition, and I didn't even have to wait for it to come in the mail, I am happy.

Now I want to make some cupcakes, or a cake, or something scrumptious that will look great in this.

I finished the second  10 ft strip of a big rug today.  One more to go.
But I think that tomorrow I am going to take a break from weaving, maybe do a little gardening, maybe a little shopping.
Maybe a little BAKING.
So what if it's hot.  That's when central air is cool.  Pun intended.

Might I suggest it is perfect for a nice angel food cake, strawberries and whip cream.

What steals! I went to a flea market today and saw one of those mason jars for $9! You sure know how to shop.

BTW, I left without the jar.

Pun taken, then. I see a cake in today's lineup. Loving your garage sale finds, Hilary!

I love your bargains!!!! Cake plates are pretty with just pretty Christmas balls in them. I haven't been to a yard sale all summer.

I love garage sales! And what finds! Although I rarely make cakes, I've always wanted one of those cake plates!

You found a lot of great stuff! I have a covered cake plate just like that. I love it and use it as often as I can. You can even turn the cake stand/plate/bottom upside down, and place the handle of the top into the base (also upside down) and it becomes a bowl. :-)

Welcome to my world.
