Another trip??

Yesterday, I finished this custom rug, neutrals with some brown, tan, and rust, hemmed edges.
I kind of like it.

But today I didn't have time to weave at all.  I took my mother to church, and then to the grocery store.
It was so nice out, I knew that Roy and I had to take a special walk.
So we did.
L had originally told me about this place, but she wasn't in town, so Roy and I set out by ourselves.

It overlooks the Hudson River, and the trails go through the woods.   When I got out of the car, I called home .........with my luck, it's good to have someone know where I am.   I know now that  I am not invincible, and falling is not out of the question.

It was so warm out, and the fresh air was heavenly.  Headache was a little oppressive when I woke up, but by the time I started walking, it had lessened to doable.
I love doable.

There was a sign at the trailhead, that said to stay away from the bluffs.

I noticed that they were really not kidding.
I stayed clear.

Roy set the pace.  I am so glad I didn't get a 2 year old dog.  Imagine.
I can just keep up with him, and he's 7.

What do you see when you look at this fallen tree????
The more I look at it, the more things I think of.

It's a beautiful day....aren't you glad you came along??

The ground stayed dry as long as we were on high ground.  That was soon to change.
Here comes the hill now.

In the shady places, there was still some ice, and snow.

But the water here flows too fast to freeze, and the river looks like spring and summer to me.

I am not sure Roy appreciated all the stops to take a picture.
But he is very good natured about it.

We saw a few other people out enjoying the day.

I think I will have to kayak down here, it looks like a lovely trip.

Roy says we should do more day hiking like this.  He likes the woods.

Can you blame him???

When I was a kid, there was nothing I loved better than to hang out in the woods all day.
We climbed rocks, and built forts, and we came home tired and dirty every time.

I still come home dirty some times, but not today.

I know my grandkids will love this place, I have to bring them here.

This snow needs to go.

We found that one trail was under water, so we had to turn around and try another one.

I don't let Roy off the leash.  He is perfectly happy staying with me, and I stop for him a lot, so he can sniff out the world, which he is wont to do.

Other people come along, with LOOSE dogs, and I must admit, it is my pet peeve.
Today, three dogs charged Roy....one large one, and two smaller ones.  The owners screamed and screamed at them, to no avail.
I very nicely said, " if your dogs won't come to you when you call, they need to be on a leash."
They dragged their dogs off, muttering apologies.

Roy takes it in stride, he is a lover, not a fighter.
And it was a great walk.

It's been a nice day.
I am grateful, again.

Ah, that's my pet peeve. Even in parks with "dogs allowed on leash only" signs posted everywhere. I like your line--may I use it? I used to walk with a large walking stick just to keep between me and the dogs.

Today, all the dogs we met were on leashes.

That is a lovely walk indeed. I'm jealous, you have lots and lots of lovely deciduous trees!

I saw a couple today at the Home Depot with a little dog that was not on a leash. It was running around the store. I couldn't believe it. Back in the old days, if you crossed the line you would be asked to leave a store, it seems people can do whatever they want now. Later I saw the same people in the parking lot, again with the dog running around. The dog was not obedient at all and was running all over. The people kept yelling at it and trying to snatch it up, but it took them a good five minutes before they were able to grab it. I'm guess they do the same thing at the next store.

A little commonsense goes a long ways.

Nice blue skies... we had them here all week-end with sunshine and warm temperatures. Just a glorious day!

Hillary, It is my biggest pet peeve with dog owners. My bouviers are very gentle dogs and we are constantly coming across loose dogs that NEVER come when called....I spoke up and said...do you really want to watch your dog get attacked or killed....honestly have some concern for your pets well being and my state of mind. I am always on edge waiting for the next dog to come charging! Common sense is gone.

what a fabulous walk that was .. I agree, dogs on walks in parks need to be on a leash .. its the law here ... one day I need to get Kate to come get me and the two of us need to come visit and walk .. .yup. Gonna work on that.

The next best thing to being there with you and Roy to take a walk was seeing the pictures. This would be a beautiful place to hike anytime of the year.

Thank you for sharing your part of the USA with us. It is so beautiful. The river looks so pristine. It is nice to see no 7-1s or McDonald's signs. Ruth Ann

The only thing that irritates me more than loose dogs when I'm out walking is loose dogs on my property. Just because I live in the country does not mean that my sheep want to meet your dog. People don't understand how much harm their dogs can do (or just don't care).

Glad that Roy takes it in stride.

What I find amazing is the evidence of many feet on that trail by it's worn pattern. Beautiful.
