Crazy as a Loom

Saturday, July 13, 2013

Still.

I got sick of using paper on the warps I wound on the warping board.  I only have a few looms with a plain warp beam, most all my looms have sectionals.  But I get annoyed every time I use heavy brown paper, and it doesn't wind tight.
So I ordered me some CORRUGATED.
I guess I didn't realize how big 250 ft of it would actually be.

YIKES.
Guess I'm good for a while.  And I know a few of my fave weavers who will want some.

I have been home with my ailing mother all week, but today daughter #1 came and stayed with her grandmother.
I went to the studio for the day.  Alone.
Can I just say, "wow".
Peace.  Quiet.  No requests.
It was pretty special.  I needed the break.
I wove on an order for a while.

I weeded around the barn, and checked out stuff.
My trumpet vine has gone bananas.

Here's my high bush cranberry.........
I have been so busy with my head issues, and now my mother, that the garden has somewhat gotten out of hand.
I did manage to weed my little vegetable garden.

Then I worked on my point twill towels.

This one is going to use up a bunch of bobbins of different colors.

Tomorrow daughter #3 is spending time with her grandmother, so I get to play AGAIN.

Life is good.

It's great for your daughters to spend time with their grandmother as it is for you to find some peace from the long days. Your weaving is amazing and I'm glad you had the time to spend alone, XOXO

You have such wonderful daughters! That point twill is amazing, is it 8 harness? Since I could not find cardboard wide enough for my 56" loom I bought a plastic "bamboo" blind. I cut off the hanging end and retied the strings holding the thing together. It is AMAZING. I love that if it starts to wind crooked it is easy to shift a bit to the other side. Of course it is only 6 feet long. I plan to buy another!
