The life.

Today was a tease of Indian summer........and it was fantastic.

I am still, however, dealing with this toothache. I have a prescription, and an another appointment Wednesday morning. I wish someone would just yank it out of my head. I'm serious here.

My camera got an attitude again today. Won't take the picture. I'm afraid that I need to send it to Nikon for some encouragement.

I found this picture on an old CD, it reminds me of times gone by.

From november

I had a friend who had one of these. And no inside bathroom. I was 15 though, and didn't have to put up with it all the time, so it was an adventure. I used to go down the hill across the road with her, to carry water back to the house. Her mother must have been agoraphobic, because she never left the house, even to grocery shop. My friend went with her father, and did the shopping every two weeks. I went with them once, and was amazed to see my friend whipping her cart up and down the aisles, taking charge, planning out a menu for two weeks.
I could barely make tuna salad.
Her mother sat in the same spot in the living room, drinking coffee and smoking cigarettes, and talking on the phone.
Her Dad was a drinker, a hard drinker. He was a square dance caller, and he was better earlier in the evening. The later it got, the harder it was to understand him.
Whenever I am inclined to complain about my childhood, I remember my friend's childhood, and I clamp my mouth shut.
I had the life, I did.
We weren't well off, but I never went without anything that I really needed.
When I grew up, I bought this outhouse, because I liked it.

Today I threaded the Macomber with a silk blend thread, and started weaving a Mobius shawl.....or at least my version of it. I hope to take pictures of it tomorrow.
I'm using Berocco Bonzai for the weft.
It's really beautiful.
It's time for some recreational weaving anyway.
