Crazy as a Loom

How much?

I got this card today.
I like it a lot.
From november

It was a thank you card, from my daughter.
I love that she took the time, and the sentiments are lovely.
She doesn't need to thank me though.
Being a mom is my job. Funny, isn't it? No one tells you that being a mom is forever. When you are a young woman, that doesn't really compute.

Speaking of compute...I just ordered a book that has really piqued my interest.....I can't wait til it comes.
Jacquard's Web: How a Hand-Loom Led to the Birth of the Information Age - James Essinger
"Jacquard's Web is more than the biography of a man and his machine. Mr. Essinger moves from the Industrial Age to the Information Age, connecting the loom, step by step, to the Harvard Mark I, the first proper computer, presented to the public in 1944.... Essinger tells his story with passion and with a gracious willingness to help the lay reader grasp the intricacies of technology."--Wall Street Journal
I took pictures of potholders today. A fairly large retailer has bought some and wants to advertise them. I won't tell you who yet, but suffice to say that I am OVER THE MOON.
After months of working out this "Hip to Be Square Looper Loom", and worrying if I was crazy, or not. Listening to words of caution, and words of encouragement, trying to walk a tight line somewhere in the middle, THIS is HUGE.

It isn't about the money, ah, no.

It is about the affirmation that what you do is good. It is all about approval.
You knew, RIGHT?
From november

It starts when we are very young.
From november

We never really outgrow it.
From november

It can be so simple. A smile. A pat on the shoulder. A phone call. A few words.

From november

Testimony to our worth in this world.
Crazy, but true.
When someone loves what I do, it is priceless.
No matter what the price tag says.

Now I am off to make pies. Maybe I will take a couple of pictures,
but maybe not.
I make pies to die for, so they tell me, but my husband says I make an incredible mess
So pies yes, photos...........not so much.
We'll see.

Cool beans! That is so great for you!
I got affirmations today...they were surprizes. A lady I helped, I guess felt very good about what I had done for her and asked if she could give me a hug. Of course I said yes, and I was so glad I had. She is the best hugger I have come across in years...I mean years. I felt a lift in my heart the rest of the day! And then a co worker felt compelled to hug me when I was leaving later on...It's feels so good, I had a two hug day!

Welcome to my world.
