Realistically

Impending storm.     Wow, what a surprise!!!

Some things I have discovered/decided:

1.  I  hate spinning.   I have tried and tried to like it, but I just don't.  I can do it, pretty well actually, but it bores me to tears.  So I am going to sell my Louet S10 double treadle wheel.  It's a part of my downsizing efforts

2.  I love croissants.   I could eat them every day.   And I have decided that no matter how hard they look, I am going to make my own.

3.  I am going to buy a new furnace for the studio.   Then when I am gone for 3 months next year, I can just pay for oil, and not worry.  And pellets won't have to be carried from the barn.
I will also need to buy less pellets!!  My poor old house has had the same old furnace for about 40 years........it sounds like a VW bug when it takes off.

4. I am pretty much done with custom orders, unless they are easy, or wicked fun. Call me ornery.  I don't care.

5.   The only thing that matters is being happy, being ok with yourself, and being with the people that you love.  All the rest is bull**%*&&#!

6.  I will never arrive, I am always on the journey.  I need to remind myself of that, often.

Mostly, I am grateful.
You think I'm crazy?   (she's had a headache for over 2 years, and she's grateful?)

Yup, grateful to be here.  Grateful for the chance to go on living my life.  Grateful for my incredible family, and my fantastic friends.

I think, in fact, a little more gratitude is in order.

Spring... love it.... hate it. Warm one day, cold as hell the next... wet...dry....windy.... calm... it's absolutely a crazy time of year, but still, I love it when the flowers bloom.

Sounds like you have a plan for the house. :)

OH Hilary what an inspiring post. I pray the weather improves soon so you can enjoy being back up north. You are inspiring me to downsize and live life on my terms. I pray that the mild weather comes soon!
Hugs and Prayers,
Rose

What a shocker to be back in the snow, but I like your reality. Since losing Kelly, I've said the same thing--life is just too short to be doing something you don't like. I'll be making a major change at the end of this year and maybe have time to take care of the neck pain I've had for over two years. Stay warm and enjoy the days, XOXO

Hilary, I love reading your blog but the type is very, very light. Is there any way you can make it darker? - Catherine

I love that attitude, and I want to add that to my life and subtract those things I don't want or need. Thanks for helping me come to decisions...at my age I need to decide.

I love your list. I would add 1 thing to #5 - being with people and PETS that you love. Yes, it's official I am a crazy dog lady! Say hi to Roy!

Ah Hillary - you ALWAYS post something that hits home with me. :)

I hate that you don't like spinning. Since I found spinning, it's my zen. I LOVE to spin. It is one thing that doesn't bore me. It goes SO fast! I can make yarn, but I don't knit. I wish I could knit, but too many rules, too many patterns, to hard to fix a boo boo.
I LOVE # 6. You're SO right - and it's something I need to remember too. It's ALWAYS a journey. If you do reach the end...well, in reality, that's not a good ending! Always have something more to strive for, even if it means less things.
Nothing wrong with setting boundaries - not doing special orders sounds GREAT! I hate to try to please someone else. Do what you love, and you'll never work a day in your life! Do what YOU love, and love what you do.

Hugs,
Martha
