Little vacay.

DH and I  took a few days off, went to Maine, and New Hampshire.

My foot has been killing me for a couple of months now, so I took the advice of my physical therapist, and bought myself a pair of Birkenstocks.

I was shocked when I realized how much they helped.  I don't care if they are ugly.

I love the water, I could sit by it for hours.

 The weather was perfect.

I  am not good about resting though.  After a couple of days, I'm antsy.

I know, that must be a shock.

I tried, honestly, I did.  I read three books, knitted a pair of mittens, went for walks.
The quiet was lovely.

But I have to be honest here.

I was ready to come home.

I get it. No matter how wonderful the places we go are, it's always nice to be home. It's good that you got away for a bit though. When I saw your title, I said to myself...she went to Maine! LOL!

I have heel spurs and haven't worn any shoes other than Birkenstocks for years---they are not ugly! Knit yourself some wool socks and be prepared to have happy, cozy feet this winter. Did you get some clogs or enclosed shoes (London) too?

I wear my Birks year round. With socks when it gets cold. I think Birds are so ugly they're cute. Only show for terrible feet.

Two weeks tramping all over Northern Italy on cobble stones a day marble museum and church floors in Birks.

I love my birkies and there are so many different styles, they're really fun. I've even got some of the clogs with sheep on them. I also have foot issues with the balls of my feet. I can also wear keens and walk for miles in them. Have you tried those?

Oh, your pictures are beautiful!! Isn't it wonderful to walk in new places?

I don't think your shoes are ugly...they just have a lot of personality! LOL There is a company called Mephisto that also makes cork-bed shoes. I own a couple of their sandals. They have a higher arch, but are super comfortable. I've worn them for walks up to five miles. They are expensive, but I've had mine for over 10 years...and you can have the beds replaced through a mail-in program! Saves quite a bit if you keep your shoes for a long time.

Have a wonderful weekend!

Looks lovely. I too can sit and stare at the water for long periods of time.

Birks are NOT ugly ... comfort rules .. i have narrow feet so i had to get the throng version .. good in two respects - narrower and the inflamed/over stimulated nerve on the side of my foot would be even more hysterical if a strap touched it .. got a steroid shot last night, hopeful it will calm that sucker

Liking Daryl's comment...comfort rules and my feet LUV Birks. I know what you mean about taking it easy...difficult for me to do but I'm at the Cherry Grove, SC beach and trying to do some R&R. This afternoon, after church and lunch, my intent is to park my rear on the beach and read a good book.

Welcome to my world.
