YEP

I just read something on FB that really spoke to me.

It said, "I don't mind getting older, but my body is taking it badly."

Ain't it the truth, though.

Lois and I did the Beekman Street Art Fair on June 11th, in nearby Saratoga Springs.

I must say the booth looked great, and L and I have setting it up down to a science.

I am doing something different this summer, as I usually don't do any more shows.  But I've decided to take on three more.  They are all one days shows.

And L has agreed to do them with me.

The first is at the Blue Mountain Lake Museum, in Blue Mountain Lake, NY, now called the "Adirondack Experience", on July 22nd.
The next one is the Old Time Folkcraft Fair in Willsboro, NY on July 29th.
The third is the Heart of the Park Fair in Long Lake, NY on August 6th.

So if you're out and about, that's where we'll be.

I am very pleased with this ruana in cotton and bamboo, the weave is crackle.

My neighbor gave me some garlic scales, and I think I'm going to try making some pesto out of it..........should be interesting, right?

I love peonies, but their season is too short......
I used to have a dozen different kinds, in my little house in the country, but here I only have the one.

Little lunch on the porch anyone????

I spent a day with my youngest daughter for her birthday.   Of course, the bonus of that is spending the day with THESE TWO.

My bunnies.

Hang in there, BODY, we're sticking around for this.

Productive day

I am still on the mission of making quilts for everyone in my family.

This is for DH.

I had saved this particular fabric just for him.
When I showed it to him, I asked, "did you like the fabric?"
He said, "oh, yeah, it's great."

But later, when I mentioned the fabric specifically, he clearly didn't have a clue.

So I pointed it out to him........

And then he really DID like it.

I wish I didn't like these........I could eat them every day.....that wouldn't be good, right??

This omelet would be a lot healthier, and I love this, too.

This morning I had to change the threads on my serger......and it didn't go that smoothly.

My go to helper is on YOU TUBE........a threading tutorial that is very simple to understand.
Very quickly, I was up and running.

I didn't weave at all today.....I decided to get some of my weaving scraps out and get sewing.

This one actually has arm holes, but then it drapes like it doesn't.
Cotton and handdyed bamboo.

A poncho, same blend.

And a short little cover up.

I took a break from sewing and dyed some cotton.......

And then I got my second wind, and made some purses from some of the smaller pieces.

I've had these wooden handles in my stash for so long, thought it was time to use them.

After all that work, I'm beat.  Tomorrow, however, is another day.

MInutiae

I just realized that it's been weeks since I have posted.   I miss the feeling that I get when I am posting more often, that feeling that you are paying attention to your day to day life.
Lately, it just seems to be whizzing by.

So maybe I need to get motivated, and post more often.

I am plagued this year with plantar fasciitis.....oh, well, since last year actually.  I've had it for months....I've tried everything, and I am about at the end of my rope.
But I keep plugging on, doing what I can.
Shades of getting older, losing scope, I fear.

On my quest to make everyone in my family a quilt this year, youngest daughter, with discerning taste, picked this pattern.   It was a pattern for a twin quilt, and I had to fudge it to be a queen.
Let me just say that I am not fond of POINTS in quilting....which these "flying geese" have in abundance.
I was going to have it quilted at some shop with a quilting machine, but in the end, I quilted it myself on my Bernina with the BSR attachment.
It turned out so much better than I expected it to.

Some random shots here, that just make me happy ...........
my youngest granddaughter, at the dentist.......rocking her sunglasses.
That girl.......

A trip to Ravenous in Saratoga Springs with my BFF.........their menu is all crepes, except for the Pom Frittes..........we ordered a large to split.........we could only finish half, even though they were amazing.

My youngest daughter and my youngest grandson, on a rainy day having lunch at Tai Pan........

My oldest daughter.......Aunt Baba to all her nieces and nephews............where this little one handed her butter knife to the waitress, and said, "Here you better take this, so I don't hurt myself".........ay yi yi.

Lois has been rocking the Baby Wolf, with some pinwheel towels in red and yellow.........I doubt they will last long.

This is one of my fave drafts.

Roy is making the best of his 13th year.   He had a couple of bad days, where he passed out a few times, and scared us to death......but with a med adjustment, that was resolved.

He has some trouble getting up the porch stairs when they are wet.....DH has ordered some treads for him.
His favorite thing is still basking in the sun.......this was a brutally hot day, but that's how he rolls.

The heat broke, and we've had a couple of days when you just said.............."ahhhh".  Perfect.

I am not a fan of the heat.

Yesterday I had three students.   Yes, three.   And they did amazingly well...always so rewarding to see.

I have decided to do three shows this summer.....I will probably shoot myself after the fact, but I ordered the Compudobby for my AVL, and I feel the need to earn the money.
They are all in lovely little Adirondack communities, and Lois has agreed to help, so I am anticipating good experiences........hard work, but rewarding none the less.

This is my dining room at 5:30am.........why so early????     Well, here's a news flash....when you have fluid on your ear, and a nasty ear ache, and you need a decongestant, like pseudophed, DO NOT take it at bedtime.
Enough said.

Welcome to my world.
