Crazy as a Loom

One day at a time

I wish I could tell you that I took this picture myself.  Cause that would mean that I was vacationing in balmy old England, visiting the family, instead of what I am really getting ready for.
My cousin took this.  It is on Magdalene Street, Cambridge, England.
I would love to sit in one of these flat boats and float down the river.

Here is a picture, looks like it was taken from the other direction, that I found on Wikipedia.
I can imagine being here.  I can.

I can't even figure out what's going on in my head lately.  I do try not to listen to the 'voice', the one that worries.
All of you, my blogging friends, you DO carry me.  Your support and encouragement is nothing short of incredible.  I have heard from a couple of people WITH Chiari, one who has had surgery, one who is having it a day before me.
I love that you all take a few minutes out of your day, to cheer me on.  Thank you, from the bottom of my heart.

I've been flitting around.  It seems to be what I do best lately.  Sporadically productive.
I decided to get all my knitting stuff organized, and of course, doing that revealed 'unfinished projects'.
oh dear.

So last night I finished up these wool socks.

And tonight I am finishing up these mittens.

Over the weekend  I treated myself to these cups, four in all.....two of each style.
Handpainted with bees flying up the side.   I just fell in love with them.

I guess you could say that I am amusing myself from this moment to the next.
That helps me to stay in the now, and let go of what doesn't belong to me.

Tonight, walking Roy, I saw this rusty old gate, chained shut.  It caught my eye, and got me thinking about how we get 'locked' into old patterns.

But there's always a new horizon, and another day to get it right.

You just don't know how to stop being busy, do you? I am constantly amazed at what I've learned about you, Hilary, as I read your blog and contemplate your life. I am hanging by tenterhooks waiting for this thing to be behind you. (Isn't that a cool word? tenterhooks?)

Nervous flitting...it's good for you. I nervous flit all the time. Can't really be still.

DJan, I am going to try to fit tenterhooks in my vocabulary tomorrow at work. They never know what is coming out of my mouth anyway, I might as well surprrize them with a new word! Thanks for that!
Hilary,
You have built a very strong community of friends here. We all care for you in so many ways.

I am totally amazed at your dedication to finish knitting PAIRS of anything. I love to knit, but the idea of starting the second item in a pair causes me to freeze. I knitted one sock a few years ago ... then gave it to my mother in a present, using it as an example sock in a do-it-yourself sock kit, that also contained lovely yarn, needles, and directions.

Wow..the photos tonight were amazing. Love the old gate. It reminds me of the one on our property in the country. Those mugs are cute. You'll enjoy using them, I'm sure. I know you have a lot on your mind. Know that you are on mine. Hugs

I just can't wait until this is behind you & my friend Fran. I don't remember your date but I am thinking she is who is having the surgery the day before you.

Hilary, so often in your posts you really beat up on yourself. This time you seem more grounded and in the minute. I think this is important right now. I don't know the date of your surgery, but I think of you every day. Cheers,

I haven't commented lately but still am a faithful reader. I LOVE your new banner/header (whatever) at the top of your blog. Such a beautiful photo and quote. Please know that I am thinking of you and feel confident that all will go well for you. I like the fact that you continue to keep busy so that your mind can stay in the present. Not an easy task my friend.

Are you socks handspun on top of it?

Love the little Macomber. I'm not sure I knew they had a loom that small. I love my big one :-).
