It is quite the nicest part of where I live.
The bike path along the river.....actually it runs between the river and the canal.
It was quiet this morning. Usually by late afternoon, there are more people here.
The river is much wider, and has quite a current, while the canal is narrower, and calm.
Sometimes, this is just a great place to decompress.
Eddie always loved it here, his whole demeanor changed as soon as we could see the river.
Roy likes it, too.
I have walked here early in the morning, midday, and later in the evening. I love the way the light changes on the water.
What a lovely place to park your bike, and read for a while.
I love the reflections of the trees on the water.
After long days at the studio, responsibilities at home, I am kind of fond of this place myself.
Sometimes it's processing the week gone by, and sometimes it's making a plan for the week to come.
Sometimes, I honestly don't think about anything at all.
I was thinking today about vacations. Back when I worked for the state, I actually took my vacations, and did something, went somewhere. Since I have 'retired', and work for myself, I don't actually do much on the vacation front.
Maybe that's why I am so looking forward to Maine, later this summer. ONE whole week, being away from work, and responsibilities. With my girls. It's going to be so much fun.
But for now, this will have to do. Walks by the river, with my buddy, Roy.
The simpler my life is, the better I like it.

What a beautiful place. Thank you for sharing the lovely photos! I grew up very near the Mississippi river and the bluffs, it is really calming when I go back there :)
I wish I had someplace close to my house like that, so I could take walks. Maybe that is why I travel in the RV, so that I can find places to go walking. I go on a lot more walks when I am traveling in the RV.
what a beautiful 'soul-refilling' place. and huge plus for roy as well!
Love that last shot... Hubby and Rowdy and I could walk along that canal for hours and hours. I totally see why you and Eddie loved it there together and why Roy too sees it as a great place to spend time. Decompress.... ahhhh.
I loved coming along with you and Roy. It is very thought-provoking to take walks like that but I laughed at your line "Sometimes I don't think of anything at all" because that's exactly what happened to me the other day on our walk and when I got home I thought "I didn't even solve one thing today on our walk...that was weird" I guess when your mind rests it is a good sign. Give that Roy a big hug for me. Hugs, Deb=^..^=x4
That is a beautiful place to walk. I can feel the stress roll right off my back.
Thanks for taking us with you today! Lovely shots of a beautiful refuge.
Absolutely beautiful - both your river and the photos. I can feel the calm radiating from the waters.
Once upon a time, on a small boat on a similar river, I overheard a couple complaining about the water - they couldn't see the blue water for the reflection of the trees, and the green water was so UGLY.
I felt so sorry for them that they couldn't see the beauty all around them.
I would love to have a place like this to walk around. It is so beautiful and it seems close enough in that you don't have to worry about walking alone. Of course, Roy would keep away most offenders. I am falling in love with Roy just through his pictures.
Oh what a glorious place! Shady and so lush, but I bet it's pretty in the winter too! Thanks for sharing!
So, I love the simple life! And someday soon, I hope to have it. Maybe even retire.
Hmmmm. I wonder!
Thanks for taking us along on your walk! beautiful!
Roy looks very content staring at the water, glad to know you both have a place to recharge together.
What a beautiful place to walk. It would be like a vacation everytime you go. How fun! :-)
That is just the best walkling path ever! Want to sit on that bench!
Oh, it's so beautiful there. I would love walking there, too and so would George.
We leave Friday now - taking an extra day so that Saturday can be spent slowly driving up the coastal highway. I'll take photos for you.
Loved walking with you and Roy in such a peaceful place! Great paths!....
Ironic that you TOOK vacations when you worked for someone else, and DON'T much being your own boss.
A week in Maine sounds like the perfect respite.
Thank you for sharing your walk. Beautiful photos, beautiful place, beautiful pooch.
I also love Maine...my parents and 2 brothers were born there and I still have family. I don't get to go back often enough........
