Crazy as a Loom

Thursday, June 9, 2011

End.

I finished mowing the yard at the studio this morning, by nine.
And yes, my hand still hurts, but I figured it out.

My dilemma is this.
Why should I worry about finding time to fit in a walk in an attempt to get some exercise, and pay someone to mow my lawn?
Does that even make any sense?

I am going with it for the time being.  Maybe I will change my mind, but if I do, then that is OK.
Changing my mind is allowed.

L and I were weaving machines.  We finished THREE  5'x7' sock rugs in TWO days.
Hoo-rah.

Here is the first one off the loom.

Such a happy rug, don't you think??

Can't show you the other two now, because by the time I got the fringe tied, we were hit with a storm, complete with a downpour and hail.

It got so dark I had to turn the light on so I could see the threads I was tying.

The canopy, that we were going to use to cut jeans under, is no more.  Besides collapsing, the hail tore holes in it.
A big branch from the apple tree cracked off and landed in the driveway.
Ah, well,  time for a little accounting anyway.

By this time of the day, I was exhausted anyway.   Enough already.

Tomorrow is another day.   I'm due for a BREAK.

Today I had a phone call from a man who said, "I saw the article in the paper."
uh.....ok.
"And I was wondering..............."
yeah.
" I have this old loom in the barn, and wondered if you might be interested in taking a look at it."
?????
seriously, folks.
YES.
I am a loom addict.
Of course I will come look at your loom.
Are you kidding me?????
And no, I don't need another loom.
Common sense has NOTHING to do with it.
Amen.

I just met a beginner weaver that started last fall with one floor loom and is now up to 9!! Apparently you are not the only one with this affliction!

Love the rug, they are happy colours, thanks for sharing!

Cats make perfect paper-weights, don't they? Hope the loom is worth your visit.

Uh-oh. I see the makings of another loom in your future. And yes, that rug is happy.

I have a neighbor that is in her 90's. She puts me to shame most days. She mows about 1 hr every evening, and before you know it she has covered the whole yard. She never seems to break a sweat, she just moves at a slow steady pace! Her yard is always like a picture, though I think that it is her hobby/job like weaving is mine!

I LOVE that rug!!! No, really, I LOVE that rug!
Looms! I want to get another already, but I do not have the space until my middle daughter moves out. It's going to be a while!
That sure looks like a heck of a storm!

Looms really do have a way of finding their way to weavers. Wonder if the loom might turn out to be a barn loom, if so I will be very very jealous! I think that mowing the lawn counts as your excercise - the 90 year old woman Tina spoke of is an inspiration to us all. The rug is awesome, nice color work! Looking forward to hearing about your barn adventures.

I have a small yard and cut my grass with an old-school rotary mower that has no engine most of the time. I figure I'm getting an upper-body work out and cardio at the same time, and it leaves me more money to spend on crafty stuff. My parents had a neighbor lady that cut her own grass clear up into her 80's, and I think of her allot while I'm out there sweating my brains out with the mower---if she could do it, I can too.

love your photos today... and you and I are too old to worry about common sense, especially when it involves things we love. Looms, dogs, ice cream.
