I didn't think I could love this porch any more than I already do, but when the sun is sinking in the west, it is a beautiful place to be.

I had a couple of rugs on the loom, and I was restless, so I headed back to the studio to finish them, and clear my head.
OK, the truth, to use an English description, I had the hump.
Which means, I wasn't in a very good mood.
A walk in the labyrinth helped to quiet my own internal noise . See how the river pebbles are covered with the blossoms from the locusts trees? And the air is lovely with the smell of them.

I guess I just needed to stop and smell the

Then it got really dark, and I got to try out my porch lights. Wow, I could have a party out there.

And I did finish the rugs, and their colors cheered me.

As I was walking out to my car, the night was alive with lightning bugs. Of all the things in the world that I love, that make me feel good to be alive, it's those little bits of white light on a summer's evening.
I drove home with the window down, and the breeze on my face, feeling just a little lighter. Sometimes, I guess we all just need to get a different perspective.

I love the colours of those rugs. They're wonderful. I'm also glad you were able to reconnect with yourself. It sounds like the perfect evening. I don't blame you one bit for being in love with that porch.. I'm envious! :)
I think these rugs are happy feeling.
I really like the ones on your porch and how they complete the picture.
Oh super porch. Makes me just want to sit out there with good company, a cold beer and some candles. You are going to have a great summer doing just that I hope. Those are terribly joyful rugs. Love the colors....all of them!
My loom is a great therapist... If I didn't have it to go to and escape, not sure what I'd do instead...
I have a nice porch... but you have a FABULOUS porch and I want your porch instead of my porch cuz your porch is better than my porch.

Porches are great places to just sit and enjoy the quiet. Your labyrinth looks great!
Wow....I love the color of that first rug. Also....I want to walk your labyrinth!
I love driving with the windows down these days because, after years of not wanting my hair mussed, I don't care. Feels good, feels free.
Since I don't know a thing about weaving, just coming for a visit here is a change of perspective! My goodness, I do so love your rugs... Although at the moment they are tied with your porch for my affection - I just want to go out there and sit a 'spell and watch them bugs. H-E-A-V-E-N :>]]
Yep...taking a little tromp, either through the labyrinth or on the treddles, will do a lot to clear the heart. But that porch would make any heart soar!
What a lovely inviting place .. and those lights at night REALLY set it off!
Love the rugs too.... did you use two strands of rag to get such mottled effects? Or is it the just harmonious prints that work well together with the same color scheme?
Like you, just seeing the lightning bugs is a cheering feeling. I love those blue rugs, Hilary. Love 'em!!
Glad you cheered up. Your porch does look like a good place for a party.
I just love your carpets/rugs they are so lovely. One day I might make one myself.
regards Sylvia
I haven't seen any lightening bugs yet. For me that a sure sign that its summer.
Your rugs are great!!!! The porch looks so inviting. I didn't realize you had a labyrinth. How nice to walk through at the end of a work day then a ride home with your windows open. Perfect way to unwind!
I love your porche by night. you can have a great party out there , nice lights!
All that porch needs is a pitcher of lemonade and a couple of people in the rockers.
Dame's Rocket? Is that what that flower is? I have tons of them and never knew what to call them.
