Come for a ride.

All work and no play.....well, you know the saying.
And who wants to be dull??
So today, I left my placemat warp unattended, and drove to Salem to have lunch with my good friend.
We went to a place I've never been before, called Steininger's. Very quaint.

They make their own chocolates! And you can order them on their website.
I had a grilled asparagus salad, and then................ooh, yeah.......a pecan puff with vanilla ice cream. And it was awesome, I tell ya.

I must say we enjoyed a long lunch, and catching up was special in a way I just can't describe.
I didn't feel one bit guilty for not being 'productive', and as the afternoon kind of slipped away, I was glad for the choice I had made.
And driving through Washington County, NY is always nice, even in March.

Taxes are high. It is very rural. But it just feels like home to me.

Not much going on, if you see what I mean.

And though I didn't have my zoom lens to catch the red tailed hawk that flew over this frozen pond, just seeing him made my day complete.

Soon, this snow will all be gone, and spring will be here.

I love all the old barns and out buildings all along this road.

How cool is this?

And at the end of the day, I am reminded that I need to take time to refuel. And there is nothing as good for that as a trip through the countryside, and lunch with a good friend. Cause after all, the simplest things make us the happiest.

Maybe today was "ladies who lunch" day? I was also eating out with an old friend and I didn't feel guilty either! Though I wish I had had your dessert!

Were it not for the two cars and the ice machine, the outdoor photos may well have been taken 100 years ago! Quaint indeed!

Great roadtrip! That little restaurant is wonderfully colorful with the tablecloths.. I really like it. Oh, and yes. Property taxes in New York state are extreme. Hubby interviewed for a job there a few years back and was offered the position but due to the high taxes we decided not to move there. Real estate prices were very affordable but man... just not going to pay those high taxes at this point in our life.

You live in a very beautiful part of our country and it's cool that you can take a moment to stop and appreciate it.
