Anyone for an orange??

Well, I would love to say that the porch is done, but it isn't quite. The floor needs to be resanded, and stained one more time. But after all the work that went into this, that is no big deal.

And I did promise to post pictures today, if the sun was shining, and it was.

I am in love with this porch. It is the porch I have dreamed of having my whole life.

There was a lot of questions/discussion/anguishing over the roof line, how to bring the two roofs together in a way that didn't look like a patch job.
I think this works well.

A porch is a place you go to sit and rock, to have a cuppa tea, or a cuppa coffee. Or maybe a nice glass of iced tea when the temperature goes up.

It is also going to be a place to eat lunch.

There are outlets so I can plug my sewing machine in. What better place to sew blue jean strips??

I decided to have a second set of stairs on the other end of the porch. I'm glad I did.

Tammy came this morning.....and we wove a 5x6 rug for an order. She hasn't been to the studio in a while, and I miss her help. We made quick work of it. I had the loom warped and ready, the fabric all cut.
But before I left today, I made sure to take these pictures.

OOPS.....think someone forgot to paint the soffit on the top.

And in case you were wondering what happened to the OLD PORCH, well here it is.
Hey, it's the ultimate recycling.

Oh, and didn't I offer you an orange?????

Told you I can't resist those loom shots.

OOOOOOO --- Love the outlets so you can do blue jean strips outside! How great to have all that blue dust outside! I enjoy the "wild" colored rugs myself. I'm doing purples next. I've only got one loom so my colors have to take turns...

What an AMAZING PORCH!! Oh, My, Hilary... it just looks like it belongs there and I am sending out praises to whoever designed it and built it. I know just how much you are going to enjoy spending time on it rocking, sewing, weaving. It's truly the best thing you could have done to the house.

The porch looks great! I love those movies where an old grandma or grandpa is sitting on the porch in the rocker. Bet ye they never even thought about taking the sewing machine outside! Have lots of fun there.

The roofline is terrific, great job! And the porch is wide..which was a mistake we made in our first "porch"... too narrow. So you will have plenty of room for rockers and lunches and weaving. And look at that country view!

Love the vibrant colors in that rug.

So happy for you! It is great to see a dream realized and in time to use it all summer, too! The orange weaving is beautiful!

nice job on the porch, it really looks inviting! And please keep posting loom photos, it's very motivating to those of us who need reminders to get warping...

I love front porches and your's is one of the nicest I've seen. The rocking chairs make it look so cozy. I'd love to snuggle up in one and have a nice long visit with you.

Darn.. I wrote a long cute response to this and now it's gone!

I was saying something about it reminds me that Aunt Bea should be coming through the door to bring out glasses of lemonade to Andy, Barney and Opie! I love the big porch and it sure sets off the house something wonderful!

I am making a goal when we hit the road in our RV to come and sit on your porch and sip a cup and gab about weaving with you, ok??
