But in an effort to quit complaining, I will just show you a few shots from last evening's softball
game.
It wasn't very exciting, but the kids were so sweet, and so happy, you couldn't help but want them to do well.
Learning how to pitch.
Not as easy as it looks, but she took it in stride. I was proud of how hard she concentrated.
Then they brought the back up pitcher in, which just happened to be her Mommy.
Big brother would rather be just about anywhere else but here watching his 7 year old sister play softball.
But that's OK, because my Aunt Momo loves me.
It was very cool at the game, and the sun was going down, making long shadows everywhere.
Learning to be good sports, whether you win or lose, is part of growing up.
I did sleep well, and this morning, when I went to the hospital, my mother quipped, " Well, I woke up at 2:30 a.m. and thought, gee, time to call Hilary."
Funny lady. If you missed this story, you can read it HERE.
DH and I went to a few garage sales this morning. I bought about $250 worth of little dresses for my youngest granddaughter for $32.
And I found a couple of other real cool items.
This isn't an antique, but it is wicked cute. $3
This crock says Salmon Falls, Dover, NH. $2
This bedspread was in a box. The lady said it was made by her little Italian grandmother. She said she had more, she didn't want me to think she was a bad person, selling it.
I don't know about you, but anyone who crochets, has a clue about how much work went into this. All those little 'popcorns' are labor intensive. This must have taken her forever to make.
I have always thought I might make one of these. I have an old book of patterns somewhere. But the truth is that I would probably never get to it.
If I did, would someone someday sell it at a garage sale for $5.00??
These are cheap cups, but I loved them, and they were $.25 each.
And now, the door is spinning once more, and I am on my way to pick up my mother from the hospital.
She is much better, and coming home.
Getting back to normal, whatever that might be. But grateful for it, at any rate.

You really got some cute buys and you're right... the tricyle is VERY sweet. I can picture it sitting amongst a bed of flowers.

Sorry to hear about your Mum. My husband has the same condition and I have watched him suffer with it for hours, and yes many of those at night.
Its all such a balancing act isn't it? The young and the elderly? I don't have the G-Kids yet but dealing with ailing elders and the never ending adjustment (mental and physical) to our age and stage in life.
You aren't alone on this road...
:) Susan
just got to read your Friday post. So sorry about your Mom, I hope she is better!
That picture of your Grand-Daughter is just beautiful. She is a very pretty young lady.
Love all of your garage sale finds. I wish I didn't work weekends, so I could go to some sales myself, but my kids would just give me a hard time for finding more "treasures".
That bed spread is to die for. It's gorgeous. Believe me, I know the work that went into that!
wow. that bedspread for $5. rather sad.
hope your mom does okay at home now!
You should feel guilty on those great buys! I love the $2 crock, and the $5 bedspread is just as good!
You lucky dog!

So sorry to hear about your Mother but I'm glad she's on the mend.
Your granddaughter is adorable. It's cool that you get to spend time at her games.
We have garage sales in common, too. I go most Saturday mornings and never know what I'm going to come home with. Books mostly.. well worth it at 25 cents.
Amazing find! That bedspread is a treasure! I have seen handmade crochet bedspreads like that for $500.00 and more. I suppose they sell for what people will pay. There is so much work there... and I'm sure it was made with love... I can't image it going for 5.00. Sad. Glad you have it and appreciate it.
I wish my grandson's game could have seen some sun. It ended up rained out, and this is June in the high desert. I'd rather been at your game.
Cool finds at the garage sale. Love that you go to the grandchildren's games. My in-laws always did that, too. Still do, in fact.
Hope your Mom is much better and you really scored at tag sales, that's for sure!!! Much better stuff than I had in mine! hahaha!! That bedspread is totally amazing--I would NEVER have the patience to make such a piece...but that blue bowl in the last picture with those cute tag sale cups--I'm in love. What can I say!
Five dollars....ohhhh how painful to hear. But the wonderful thing is that you appreciate the work that was put into it and now it has a "good home"!
Hope your Mom continues to improve!
Oh my gosh...I forgot about the post with your Mom's reaction to morphine. We just went through a similar episode with my brother who had surgery for colon cancer which turned out not to be colon cancer. But his reaction to the morphine just about landed him in a nursing home and did earn him most of a week in leather restraints.
Hope the home coming goes smoothly. The ball game and yard sales look like nice relaxing outings.
New to your blog. Found it research looms. I've bookmarked you! That crocheted bedspread for $5.00, hard to believe, she must not have had an understanding of the labor that went into it. I have my grandmothers bedspread, hand crocheted by her years ago. For some reason my mom kept it stored away, I have no recollection of it growing up. Mom gave it to me when my sister and I had to move her back to her home state to me near family. It resides on my bed today.
I've been blogging for several years, but am working on starting up an second blog designated to just handcrafts. I'll be back here.
For some reason I can't post on your blog thru Google anymore?
I am not a garage/yard person but you got some great things.
Hope your Mom feels better. Get some rest.
Gkids are the best!
