Crazy as a Loom

Wednesday, March 7, 2012

Oh, yeah.

Oh, gosh, do we have a list of things to do at the studio.
It grows longer every day.

Somewhere in the mix, I want to put a warp on the new Macomber.   I've decided to weave a honeycomb blanket out of some 2 ply wool I have.
480 ends, and no sectional beam.  Weavers out there, you know what I'm talking about.
So it was time to get the paddle out.

I got into a little trouble at the end, and L assisted me by pushing the yarn back on the pegs, so I didn't lose it all.

It turned out OK.  I haven't decided when I will put it on the loom.

Actually, I am doing a show right now.  It doesn't look it, but I am.
L and I went to Saratoga today, to the city center, and met Tammy, my first apprentice, set up the booth for the Adirondack Buyers Days, a two day wholesale show.  Then L and I went back to the studio, and left Tammy in charge.
Now THAT'S what I call a GOOD show.

Back in Kingsbury, we  had vegetable chowder, with a salad, for lunch.

I left not long after, because the afternoon was calling to me, and it wasn't saying WORK.  It was saying something else entirely.....it was nearly 50 degrees outside, and Roy was waiting.

It was so warm, I left my coat home, and just wore a fleece.  No hat, no gloves, no scarf.   I was  loving it.

Today I was thinking this.  If I had this headache that I have today, a year ago, I would have been totally annoyed.  It would have probably ruined my day.
Instead, I am thrilled to have THIS headache, and not the one I have had for FIVE long months....and it did not ruin my day, if fact, it was a great day.
Perspective.  My, what a powerful word.

Was it a good walk, Roy????
I am thinking that's a yes.

So we ended the day having dinner with two of my daughters, and one of my grandchildren.

Somebody turned EIGHT today.  Must be this little star.

We had fun, and when we got home, Mr. Roy boy had left a very specific message for me.
Roy doesn't need to talk.
From the laundry basket, he had left a pair of my underpants, and a bra, right in front of the door.  It was the first thing we saw when we walked in.
On the couch in the living room, he had put my white knit shirt.
I swear, he smiled, when I said, ROY.
It's wonderful to be loved.  Yes?

I'll have two bowls of that chowder please!

Love how relaxed Roy is after his walk... our pups always crash and then sleep after a walk too, which we took them on this evening when Hubby got home. It was such a great day outdoors! Warm and springlike!

Hi Hilary: I guess Spring is showing its face everywhere today. It was +12 (around 50F) today and sunny. Everyone was out with sweaters on, no coats, no hats, no gloves. We are in for some great weather for the next couple of weeks. I expect we will lose all the snow, yah! Cute little grand-daughter and that Roy, oh boy! Glad you are feeling better. Deb

What a great post, Hilary! So many good things all wrapped up in one day.
Roy, what a silly boy to lay your things around the house:-) I just want to rub that belly.
I agree with my sis, I'll have some of that chowder too!

That is one long warp you are putting on. My warping board is not so large. But my "re-learning how to weave sample" was twelve and a half feet long. That is the longest I can do on my board.

Hi Hillary. I like your warp winder. It is my least favorite part of weaving. Jane
