Crazy as a Loom

Friday, March 14, 2014

The jury may be in.

Back in the frozen northeast.  Just in time for a furious snow storm, followed by freezing rain that has encased the world in ICE.
Everyone is saying ENOUGH ALREADY.
I can't even process it.

I refuse to put a picture of this winter wonderland on my blog......(hear the sneer).......I would rather see one of my friend's screen porch in the late afternoon sun.......you know, GEORGIA, where I think winter is usually more simple.
Yeah, they had an ice storm, in 3 or 4 days, they were back to NOTHING on the ground.  The temps were moderate........not to them.........but to me, oh yeah.

But here's the clincher.  We got back Monday.   We were gone for 8 weeks.........we stopped in Virginia, then stayed a week in Georgia, went to Florida, stayed several weeks, came back to Georgia for about 10 days, then to Tennessee for 2, back to Virginia, and home.
I had TWO BAD HEADACHES in that whole time.......all the rest were not even worth the mention.

NOW, I have been back for 4 days.......and I have had TWO BAD HEADACHES.
It has to be the weather.  Otherwise, I just don't understand it.

I was happy to get back to the studio, I missed being there so much.   I must say that the concept of being "on vacay" for 8 weeks, did not really suit me.   I have to rethink going someplace warmer next year.  It is obvious that I need to get away from this frigid north if I don't want to suffer all winter long, but I need to have a different plan.
I need to take a loom, or two.

I guess under other circumstances, I could just move to Georgia.  I grew quite fond of it.
And while I suppose it is possible that I could move my studio, my children, my grandchildren, and my friends, are here.
I can't leave them, don't want to.  That's non negotiable.
There ain't no sunshine worth that.

While on my travels, I got a chance to meet some of my blog followers, and fellow weavers, when I went to Tennessee.   I got to spend a few hours with some of the Tuesday Weavers at the Appalachian Craft Center in Norris, TN.   What a fantastic group!!!!   I so enjoyed meeting them in real time, I only wish I lived closer.  It makes a weaver's heart beat fast, just to be around all those looms, and people who love them.

Eat your heart out, Ellen DeGeneres...........

I didn't realize what a tan I had until I saw this.

Thanks, ladies.   I hope to see you all again, on a Tuesday this time.

Hmm......maybe a rental in Tennessee is in my future.

WOW! You sure do have a tan!
Sorry your headache is back. Hope you are able to go to Georgia next year and be without your headache during the worst of the winter, sounds like a sweet plan ❤️

I just finished reading the Tuesday post - it always warms my heart, even when the post is about snow. Lucky you! I started evaluating locale and winter when you went to Florida and came to the same conclusion as you. Life in another locale without my family wouldn't be living. I'll be watching to see what you finally decide.

Could it be something in your home or in the area you life that triggers the head ache? Hope you can get some relief, even if it means moving south.

We had sunshine and 57 yesterday and melting snow like crazy. I felt so energized and good- and now its cloudy, snowing and cold again and I just want to go and crawl back in bed and hibernate again…

Love the sunlight in the first photo- so golden and I can practically feel it. I also will look forward to seeing where you end up next winter- I see a promising path in front of you, either way.

I love that screen porch ! Wonderful photos ! It could be the difference in air pressure where you live maybe when you were away the air pressure is better for you . I hope your head aches subside . Thanks for sharing . Have a good day !

Colorado winters can be just as hard as New England ones and we (DH and I) have decided that once I am retired (March 31-YAY) we are going to plan to move our boat south from New England to Georgia or Florida (or a combination of the two) and spend time during the nasty Colorado winters on the boat and be home during the wonderful Colorado summers and springs. Sometimes you just have to make these hard choices, especially when heath (and age) issues are involved. Luckily, knitting and crocheting projects are very portable although I will need to abandon the pottery and weaving projects for the warmer Colorado seasons. Just go for whatever helps you feel the best! ~chris

Oh you look beautiful!! But 8 weeks without weaving...yeah, that would be hard to do. It will soon warm up and hopefully your headaches will be a thing of the past. We are renting again this summer down by you and I will come visit...maybe we can sit on your lovely porch!

I was going to say, it's easy to see who spent time in Florida! I am so glad you were able to get away for some relief. Where did you visit in Virginia? I am in Fredericksburg so I'll bet you drove right passed me!

I wish I had known you were stopping in VA, I'd have had you stay over! Next time.
Sorry the headache is back. I hope the weather starts cooperating soon.
Be well.

Poor Ellen DeGeneres. She must be totally jealous. Looks like you had such a nice time. I say it's time to sell the house and business and retire down south.

i am sure the weather/barometric pressure is at least 50% responsible ... i suspect the stress of being home is part of the problem ... i love my job i really do and this week my bosses are all out of town but i still had the toughest time falling asleep last night and i kept waking looking at the clock trying to fall back into what little uneasy sleep i was having ... there's a version of that in everyone's life .. you may sleep well but ... hell i dont know why i am going on ... get your head outta NYS and into a better climate place ASAP!!!!!!xo

Welcome to my world.
