Monkey maintenance.

If Syd looks disgusted, it's because she can't get to her  box/bed.
Syd says:
Are ya serious???
Where did all these monkeys come from?

Well, for all of you who have been waiting, I now have TWO FULL pages of monkeys on my web site.
Go HERE  and when you get to the bottom of the page, you can click on MORE MONKEYS for page #2.
If you don't see them, you may have to refresh the page, but believe me, they are there.
I will extend the 'blogger best deal' to August 1st.......which means if you follow my blog, and mention it, I will credit you back $10 on your purchase.

Here are just a few sweet monkeys in this bunch.

Someone asked about shipping the rug to California.......it actually folds up quite compactly, and ships in a 24x16 x16 box, via UPS.   We have yet to finish the whole order, which includes a 12' runner, and a stair runner, with landings.   When we get it all packed up, I am guessing it will cost about $60 to get it to where it is going.

The iron???   We use damp cloths to press the seams, and we don't hold it on the rug long enough to burn the rug, or hurt the floor underneath.

There was a lot going on at the studio today.

Big old houses need big old love.

It has wood siding, which I am keeping because it is historically correct.

And once again, it needed painting.
Unfortunately, since they took the lead out of exterior paint, it doesn't last as long.
There's a trade off for everything.

I think sometimes, I should make a list of the things I don't understand, kind of like one of my fave bloggers, Cupcake Murphy
Like 30 or 40 year old women without one single tooth in their head.
That would be high on my list.
Along with the abbreviated longevity of paint.

Painting this house isn't for the faint of heart.

Hopefully, it will last 5 years.
It's part of my mission, I guess...........to not just weave in this house, but to take care of it, too.
Someone has taken care of it, with different levels of intensity, for 230 years.
I guess the torch has been passed.

What cute monkeys you make!

Good for you, caring for the house. Ours is not near as old, was build wrong, but the incompetent maintenance of the people before us have doomed it, and it is sad.

Nothing to do with this post, but I saw this loom for sale on a website, and thought you, of the loom savers, might be interested. Not too far from you.

It's nice to be part of the process of giving that beautiful old house some tender loving care.

Whitman just went a bit apeshit when he saw all his relatives scroll by. He's having a tequila to calm himself, poor dear. ;)

I smiled when I read the comment above about the loom. Loom savers!
Weaver's adopt looms even though we don't need them but can't pass them up, especially when they need loving homes. I just acquired my 7th, a Toika.
It was gifted to me by a dear friend who wanted me to "adopt" her baby!

It's is a wonderful old house. I am glad you are caring for her.

That Syd cracks me up. She has such expression similar to our Sierra. I can just imagine all those monkeys in Christmas stockings this year. Great house.

Your monkey pictures remind me of those skeevy websites that have pictures of mail-order brides. I think it's because the little dudes (and dudettes) have numbers instead of names. Or is that from your prison days? Like mugshots?

I had my house sided a couple of weeks ago. Yesterday, I started painting the foundation and doors. That was enough for me---I can't imagine having to carry the paint and tools all the way up that ladder.

A plethora of monkeys ... how adorable they each are!

My husband and I have only lived in new-construction houses since our marriage in 1980 ... until 5 years ago, when we moved into this old house of ours. It is a whole different mindset, and a lifetstyle, and a big commitment of time and resources (both monetary and emotional). Would I give it up to go back to new construction? No, thank you. I love the soul of this place, and it is now my turn to keep it. Waking up here every morning makes me happy.
