Crazy as a Loom

Monday, Monday

I am trying to add word verification to the comment section of my blog.  I apologize for the inconvenience, but I am getting multiple spam comments every single day, and it is a pain.

Had a little company.  All of a sudden, as far as Roy was concerned,  I was chopped meat.

One of my jobs as "Mimi" is to french braid her hair.
My daughters always required my services.
I have done it so long now, I do it without thinking.
I learned how to do it a long time ago, when I worked at the hospital at seventeen as a nurses' aide right out of high school.  One of my patients was an old lady with beautiful hair to her waist.  It was dark, with very little gray.  She asked me one morning, if I would french braid her hair.
I said that I didn't know how.
She said, "I'll teach you."  I braided her hair every morning for weeks.
The rest is history.

I got the highest compliment possible......"it doesn't hurt my head, and YOU  didn't hurt me once."
Wow.

She helped me out at the studio, and one of her jobs was to put tags on the sock monkeys.
She found two that had some problems. One was missing an ear, and one was missing an arm.

Next thing I know she is making room in the pantry, so she would have a place to fix them.
I have not met one kid yet who did not LOVE the studio.
The house, the stuff, all of it.

Drinking her root beer (a treat not the usual), she likes to talk at someone MOST of the time, here she's talking at me sitting on a step ladder that she dragged out.
Busy.  This girl is BUSY.
She is DEFINITELY my granddaughter.

She made tags for everyone, and since she knows now how to use the price tag gun, she had a way to attach her tags to everyone.
Here is mine, I was required to sign it.

On another note, I managed to finish one of the baby blankets I started so long ago.
Monkey boy likes it.
He told me.

I am liking it myself.  I can't wait to get back to blanket # 2, which is under way with a different color weft.
For some reason, I am finding this particular project very soothing.

 What do you think?

Ya, that's very pretty. I would feel very calm wrapped in that. Your grand-daughter is a hoot. It's so nice to have a 'special' place for them to visit; one they will always have good memories of. I had that as a child at my grandmother's farm.
We just had the biggest storm of the summer tonight. Hail the size of golf balls. Kane is stuck to my leg and will be for the rest of the evening.

Absolutely gorgeous. So much beauty here. Your lovely granddaughter, Roy, Monkey Boy, the blanket... the monkey hospital is a hoot.

If your spam is all by Anonymous, disallowing anon comments cuts that out completely. Unless you have a number of folks who comment that way in which case, never mind.

I allow anonymous comments, and that's where all my spam comes from. Most times Blogger catches it and I just need to check it and delete. I also love that monkey! And what a cute granddaughter, very helpful and in training to take over...

I love the baby blankets. Any possibility of sharing the pattern under your project section?

Anything baby = soothing, at least to me.
That Roy, he's sumthin, eh? Such a vicious boy, NOT. He's a lover, not a fighter.
I hope that one day, my grand daughter has as much fun in my art room as yours has in your studio! Someday, I will French braid her hair too. I used to do all the girls when my daughter was in competition dance.
Such an imagination she has, that grand daughter of yours. Gee, I wonder where she gets it from?

I hope any grand daughters I might have in the future are like your grand daughters. The grand here in this post is a hoot! And beautiful! I like the baby blankets. I weaved one for my neices first daughter. It was tiny. I didn't know what I was doing, but it was really pretty and so soft.

Your granddaughter is beautiful!

Oh, and as for monkey boy liking the blanket, it's because he has such good taste.:)

I'm sitting here, still smiling from your granddaughter. She reminds me so much of mine. I hope she fills your heart as much as mine dones.

Your granddaughter is adorable and she seems like such a fun child to be around. You can forgive Roy for cuddling up to her, eh? As for the baby blanket. Stunning! It's like a sunset over the ocean. Those colors are so calming and I love the pattern. You are so talented!

Pure sweetness, Roy snuggling with your granddaughter. I used to love it when someone would French braid my long hair some years ago. You can tell that sweet girl cherishes you.

I love the blankets, soothing colors.

Welcome to my world.
