Crazy as a Loom

Tomorrow, tomorrow, tomorrow.

Took ANOTHER little break today.  This could be habit forming.
(not really)
My mother had to see the orthopedic doctor, and then afterward, I had to pick up my orthotics, an hour away, so I figured it was a good time to get her out of the house.  It was a beautiful day for a drive, and we stopped to have tea with a good friend of mine.

I have always wanted to stop here and take a few pictures.  The village is Rock City Falls.  I often wondered what kind of mills made use of the water power here.

So I did a little research, and was amazed to find that Rock City Falls, NY was the site of Union Paper Bag Machine Company,  one of the first in the country to manufacture paper bags with machinery.
George West was called the Paper Bag King, and he made the bags from jute butts from India.  He sold millions of them per week.  He was so successful that he bought several more mills in the area.

I wonder how different life was in the Adirondacks in the 1800's.  I wonder in what ways it was the same.

I bet people didn't walk around with a foreign object pressed to their ear, seemingly talking to themselves.
Have you ever counted how many people you see on the phone, whether they are walking, or driving?
Scary, isn't it?

I don't watch a lot of TV.   Baseball is on most evenings, and I don't mind.  I am usually knitting, sewing, blogging, or otherwise amusing myself.
But I do have a couple of shows that I try to watch every week.
I do not appreciate that TWO of them are on tonight, at the very same time.
The Voice, and The Good Wife.
Totally not right.
I will DVR one of them, but I doubt I will be able to keep my eyes open to watch it tonight.

And I started wearing my orthotics, an hour today, two tomorrow, and so on.
I am praying that they help my foot pain.
I did not weave at all today.  I do feel a little 'off'.
But hey, there's always tomorrow.

Hilary,
Your post triggered a memory! My dad used to say mañana three times.

We too have our select TV shows on DVR and that's why I keep paying the satellite company. We watched Glee tonight and always enjoy SNL - gotta watch SNL!

I wore orthotics for years and then one day I didn't need them anymore. Good luck!

I think the old mills have so much ambiance and make wonderful Restaurants. That mill has some history. As for those inconsiderate people with phones , the police should confiscate them in Movie's or restaurants except for Dr.'s They should leave the room. yvonne
