One step back.

Just when I thought my headache was easing into the realm of bearable, I get a migraine, with the aura to boot.
It happened yesterday afternoon, I suddenly realized that I was seeing that jagged light in the corner of my right eye.    I debated......is that what it is?  Really?
I haven't had one like that for about 10 years.
But after a few moments, it was pretty clear.  That's what it was.
I took some Motrin, and headed for the couch.  It took about 20 minutes to hit, but when it did, I was still not ready.  I had a lousy night.
Unfortunately, it lingered into today, all day.   I kind of feel like I just got drop kicked back to where I started.

I managed to get this rug started.

But this headache sucks the life right out of me.
I think of all the things I could/should be doing, but I don't really care about any of them.

I know it's not "me" talking.  But it doesn't matter.
Pain rules.

L was busy with yet another clasped weft rug.

Me?  I just wanted to head home and look at the backs of my eyelids.   I asked Jinksie, and she told me how it was done.

I just wish I could be as good at it as she is.

Hilary, I've had those kind of headaches, and man, it sucks the life right out of you. I sure hope tonight you're feeling better, atleast able to sleep. If you've had the cold weather sweep we've had suddenly, that's probably the reason...the sudden weather change.

I've only had a couple of really bad headaches my whole life and they were never what you are experiencing. I am amazed that you could work on weaving a rug.

I've been there and I don't even know how you can muster up the strength to type.
Take care of yourself.

Aww, darn....
I thought you had finally got on the backside of those horrid headaches, or at least I was hoping so.
I suffered from those light shows when I had migraines, four years worth of them, the only thing that helped was taking Cafergot as soon as I felt one coming on.

I can't believe you were still able to create, whilst suffering a headache, or the after effects, and create you did !
Here's to better days my friend,

I had a headache a few days ago when the rain was on the way. Barometric pressure gets the best of me I guess. Sleep is the only thing that cures it completely. Sorry it hit you.

I'm truly sorry that your headache has returned with such a vengeance. Your blog has been something I've enjoyed coming back to and reading for over a year now. I'm a sometime weaver and originally visited by Googling "rag rugs". I loved your site from the beginning because of your skill on the loom and willingness to share, but it's your positive outlook on life that's kept me coming back! Please rest and take care of yourself.

Oh headaches are hateful, aren't they! I can't do anything either when I have one. And pain definately sucks the life out of anyone!!! My youngest gets migraines too. Truly awful! So beautiful, your clasped weft rugs!!!

So sorry about your migraine. I know the pain is horrible and hope you are feeling better today. Your cat has the right idea-looking at the back of the eyelids.

I am so sorry that you are still experiencing these headaches - ongoing pain is ridiculously hard sometimes and I think the emotional side is just as hard - if not harder than the physical side. I deal with chronic back pain and there are days that I are strong and days that I am not. Thank you for inspiring me on the days I am down.

Aw Hilary, I'm sorry to read this. Let's hope it's just a temporary set-back and tomorrow will be a brighter day. I'm thinking about ya. Deb

Too late now but if there's a next time, when you see the aura begin drink black coffee or take Cafregot (which is 99% caffeine and 1% LSD .. for real).. it helps open the blood vessels that tighten and cause the headache ... I used to get cluster migraines .. hideous things but the coffee helped ease it ...I hope its gone by now .. xo

Migraines run in my family. My mother used cafergot, which I believe is used for rat poisoning, but if she could catch it quickly enough, she'd pour hot tap water into a mug and then add spoonfuls of instant coffee which she gulped down like medicine. She swore by it.

i take amitriptyline every night.....and it prevents my migraines.....and now i know many people who are also being treated for headaches with this antidepressant drug.....go figure.

Welcome to my world.
