Talented friends.

Sometimes it is amazing how people come together and form friendships.  I feel that I have connected with so many of you through this blog.  Who knew such a thing could happen??
Years ago, I met and became friends with a lady named Liz.  We were both desperate for what Al Anon had to offer at the time, and we both found what we needed.  Over the years, even though we live an hour apart, we have kept in touch.
What's funny to me, is that I have become good friends with Caren, a potter  that Liz introduced me to, someone I actually see more often than Liz.
Just how things turn out, I guess.
Do you ever wonder what has happened to all those old friends and acquaintances that have come and gone throughout your life???

Anyway,  Caren has a great studio, called Pizzazz Pottery

She is extraordinary.  The work she does is off the scale.  I don't say this just because I like her either.   I am blown away by her talent.
She stopped by to talk about "wholesale" accounts, not that I am an expert or anything, but I do have my opinions.  You knew that, right?
She had some great stuff in her car she wanted to show me, and now I want to show them to you.

Tell me this stuff is just not incredible.

You might notice in the picture below, that there is a huge crack on the left side of this.  It cracked while it was being fired, something that she says never happens.  But it did.  The piece is still awesome, and seems sturdy enough, but it is flawed.
Lifelife, eh?

Caren also makes pottery for daily use, in addition to these gallery pieces.  Go on over and check out her work.  She is just over the Vermont line,  a stone's throw from here.
I think we are planning a photo shoot.....my wovens, and her pottery.  Won't that be fun????
Now if only I could get Kate over at Country Girl up here with her camera!!!!

I love pottery. We have so many wonderful, talented artists living in our area here. When there are festivals on I always head to the pottery tables. I am looking forward to the yearly Herbfest and there will be amazing potters there again. Your friend is very talented. Love her tea-pots. Hugs, Deb=^..^=x4

When you have your open house in the studio you should have some of her pottery around for display too...Perhaps weave a few table runners to compliment the pottery and have pricing done for a package gift.

You will have to have a discussion with the cats about not knocking it over though :-)

The stuff is really unique and if you have the right space to display it, it will look fantastic! I wish I had the talent you have :-)

Hi Hilary!
Yes, I do love the blogging neighborhood. Here where I live in a semi-rural area, I hardly know my neighbors. It's kinda sad really, because I know my friends in the blogging community much better. Strange and so different from the days when I grew up in a close, suburban neighborhood.
The potter is amazing--Pottery is my second love after textiles! I wanted to tell you about a wonderful post on dog love at www.juliewhitmorepottery.blogspot.com - Any dog lover will "get it"! Also have you ever seen the little video God and doG by Wendy Francisco at www.godanddog.org I just love it!

Oh, Hilary ~ your friend's work is beautiful. Am heading off to see her site after wiping away tears from watching the God and dog video mentioned by Stickhorsecowgirls above.
Wish I lived closer - I'd be up there with my camera.

Beautiful pottery! You have talented friends! :-)
I saw that crack and thought, that would be great to hold my stick shuttles and other "sticks" for weaving!

Love her website - beautiful.
