Crazy as a Loom

Monday Monday

While I am not averse to having company, and I love having an apprentice,  I must say that today was a fantastic day at the studio.
Just me and the cats.  I didn't even turn the radio on.  The only noise was the whoosh of the shuttle.
It was lovely.
Sometimes a day like this is just what I need to regroup.
I have always been fond of alone time, even as a child.  My mother would often come into my room, to see if I was alive.
I think it is a gift, to like being alone sometimes, and to be good at amusing oneself.  It has stood me in good stead.
Where did that phrase come from???
Geesh.

I did a little of this, and a little of that.  No pressure.
I cut some fabric.  Actually I cut a lot of fabric.

I did a little bird watching.
Which  brought a question to mind.  Do you feed the birds year round?  If so, why, or why not?

Looks like he's waiting for the answer, doesn't he??

I wound some yarn, for no particular reason than it seemed like a good idea.

I wove a couple of Walkin' on Sunshine rugs, 30"x60".

And I appreciated.   I appreciated everything about the day.

The studio,  a choice of looms to weave on, lots of fabric to pick from, contented cats, spring,  a whole day to myself to just be quiet and reflective, Bubbalee making it safely across the road,  living in a free country.  Being safe.  Being healthy. So much to be thankful for.  The list is long.

And that's all the philosophy for tonight, folks!   Hope your weekend was lovely.
Are you ready for Monday?
I love Mondays.

sounds like a perfect day. i enjoy my alone time (almost too much for a married person...)

yes, i feed birds all year round. i enjoy them and they don't seem to mind having a free banquet at their disposal.

I too love my alone time! A friend recently suggested I get a housemate to help pay the bills (kids all moved out, boyfriend of 17 years passed away). I'd rather cut corners where I can! Hate the idea of giving up my quiet. The sheep are the only ones putting any demands on me. Love it!

Your photos are gorgeous, Hilary. Love the birds. My husband feeds them year round. We just like seeing them at the feeders.
Glad you enjoyed your day. Actually, today I would have preferred to be alone.

I LOVE my alone time.. I feed my birds year around otherwise I wouldn't see them at my window. they would be in the pasture..or the trees where I wouldn't be able to see them up close.

Hubby feeds the birds most of the year, but when snake season arrives I make him take it down. It draws too many small critters too close to the house which the snakes like to have for dessert. No critters = No snakes.

I need to go buy some cheap rubber backed rugs today for the bedroom hallway... Handsome slips on the hardwood floor and busts his... well, you know, so have to put rugs down that stay put and allow him to walk safely through the hallway. Poor guy.

Monday Monday.

I am impatiently looking forward to being off school Thursday -- Monday and spending some quality time with my loom. It is so relaxing, almost mesmerizing as the patterns come and go, and the warp slides by. We live right next to a conservation area, so we have immense amounts of all sorts of wildlife, that I do feed, in moderate amounts. If I fed them continously, I think I would have my whole yard full of animals just waiting for a handout.
I love tying the fringes, too, although I'm never sure exactly how I do it. I just look away and my fingers do it all by themselves. I guess it comes of learning to weave and tie fringe before I could tie my shoes.

It sounds like you had a lovely day! :-)

I read recently that feeders should be taken down in springtime; excess food can disrupt nesting behaviour.

You sound like me, but then I was an only child born to older parents. I guess we all need to spend time with our center.

Welcome to my world.
