Moving right along.

We're still under construction at Crazy as a Loom.
The weather at the beginning of the week did not cooperate. The rain came down in buckets for two days in a row.
But the sun is shining, and with any luck the porch will be done soon.

It is going to be awesome, and I can hardly stand the wait.
All of my life I have wanted a porch like this. A place to have that first cuppa coffee tea in the morning. A rocking chair or two to sit and rock in while watching the sun go down.
A place to sit and have lunch, or maybe a place to watch the rain come down.
Of course, it has to have a loom or two .
Sometimes in the heat of summer, I have work to do, but don't want to be confined in the house. This will be perfect.

It will improve the value of the house, because it is going to look so much better than what was there. And hopefully, I will get to enjoy it for years.

Once again, I am reminded of being a kid, and watching my father with a hammer. He always put in 20 nails where 5 would have sufficed.
Our house was built from several cottages that my father bought right after WWII. He moved them several miles to a piece of land he bought, built a foundation and put them all together. To say that our first house was hodge podge would be a understatement.
Every year or so, my mother would decide that the house was too small, so my father would add another 10 feet or so to the back of it. And if a wall bothered either of them, he took it down. We joke about the walls that appeared and disappeared in that house over the years. But in spite of its humble beginnings, it was home.
When I was about 12, my father built a 'real' house in the lot behind us, and we moved into that.
Consequently, I love the smell of fresh lumber, the sound of a saw, and the thwack of a hammer.
It just feels right.
Here are some of the rocks they dug out from under the old deck and porch. I ought to be able to come up with something to use them for, don't you think?

This is the coolest one of all.

Moving it might be problematic.
Have a great weekend everyone.

You are going to enjoy that porch sooooo much! I can't wait for it to be done either to picture you out there at your loom. We have lived in two homes with porches and two that did not have a porch, although they did have covered patios off the back of the house. I never want to live in another house that does not have a porch to drink that morning cup of coffee on or sit and swing while feeling a cool breeze in the evening.

I had the deck off of my bedroom converted into a screened-in porch a couple of years ago. It was the best idea I ever had!!! In fact, I left the french doors open last night when I went to bed. The fresh air was delicious! I can roll my Wolf Pup out there and weave if the spirit moves me, too. Great place for that first cup of coffee. You will really enjoy having that porch!

My dream is to remove the kitchen and window, replace it with a single French door, and build on a sunroom/porch with a fireplace. Your porch looks so inviting!
Those rocks are great! Maybe a pond, with a little waterfall?

Lovely deck and so glad the rains have moved out and sunshine is helping the project along! You'll be weaving out there before you know it.

I would so love a big porch. I've always dreamed of a home with a large wrap around porch. You will no doubt love it. That rock is wonderful. I bet it has stories to tell.
