Adopted!

Grainy photos......I apologize.  But I think you can see what is most important.

Three 13 year olds on Christmas.  Me in the middle, my cousin Billy (one day older than me), and my best friend for my entire life, Gayle.

They are both gone.  Billy in 2004.  Gayle just a few weeks ago.

I have to say, that other than my immediate family, I loved these two more than anyone in the world.  Felt most comfortable with either of them.  Always.

Playing a board game.  Just looking at their expressions brings a huge lump to my throat.

I have to tell myself that it's ok, that we'll meet again.

Goodbye isn't forever.  Is it????

We've been busy, especially this last week......one show in Long Lake, NY last Sunday, and another in Speculator, NY on Thursday.
My butt is dragging.

I told L that we might be getting too old for this.

The möbi shrugs are great sellers.  I think I only have one left.  This purple one sold pretty quickly.

Guess we'll be making more.

I have three pieces of "yardage" on the shelf, waiting for me to get inspired to start cutting and sewing.

I've been so into making these darn cards, I can barely tear myself away.

They are so much fun.

A few weeks ago, when I had Naya at the groomer's, which is an extension of my vet's office, they had this little dog there up for adoption.  She was found wandering stray, and she was so matted that they had to pretty much shave her bald.  She had not been spayed.   They didn't find her chip initially, so she was there over a month.  Then they did find it, it had migrated some, and they found her owners and called them.   Weeks went by, and the owners didn't come for her.  Even though they were contacted several times, they still did not come.  So I got a call, because I had expressed some interest.
Well, it was actually my daughter who was interested, she wanted to find a friend for her dog, Walter, a little black labradoodle.

So, the other day, my daughter drove over an hour, and I met her there.

And the match seemed to be inevitable.

Here they are, after her bath, her nail trim, ready to go home.  Walter and Penny.

Look at that face.

And here she is,  I swear if she could talk, she would tell you that this is just
too freaking good to be true.

Sometimes, there are happy endings.   Despite how awful the world seems a lot of the time, there is good, all around us.

We need to remember that it's there.  We need to look for it, we need to make it happen.

This is where Naya waits, when I'm in the shower.

Yup, there are definitely happy endings to be had.

I do like your mobius shawl. Everything I'm weaving lately is to strip patterned to do that, so it's on the shelf. Actually, I have a plan, but need to get more off the loom to do it.
That little dog is so pleased. May her final landing be just as happy. Good for your daughter for matchmaking.

Reading that first bit of your post, I will confess to having tears in my eyes. My best friend (from the age of 5) died 2 1/2 years ago so I know just how you feel over the loss of your best friend (and your cousin). Some people are just irreplacable.

I know what you mean about the Fairs you do too. We sell antique weaponry and collectables/furniture and sometimes when we have back-to-back Fairs - and the 2nd Fair might be at quite a distance and we have to be up at "silly-o'clock" I think, we're getting too old for this. It takes half a week to recover!

I love those cards you have been making and I'm not surprised they sell so well!

As for the little dog your daughter has taken on, what a happy ending. She looks one happy wee dog now!

Whoever said that dogs don't smile never saw that adorable face. And I love your shawls and am glad, not at all surprised, to learn how well they sell. Sorry you lost your best friend, and I do believe that one day we will meet again. :-)

I still miss my BFF. They can't be replaced but just remembering them can bring you cheer and a warm feeling in your heart.

Glad your show went to well and that Penny has a new perfect home. Nothing like a happy ending. :)

Hurray Penny, you have found a perfect home. I wish you many years of happiness, lots of pets and of course a few treats too.

Beautiful post! This one brought a tear to my eyes (losing loved ones) and then a warm swell to my heart. (That extremely lucky pup who landed himself a fantastic home)
You and your family are wonderful people. I wished we lived closer, I would love to meet y'all in person!
That purple Mobi Shrug is gorgeous!

I love reading your posts, but this one truly struck a chord. Deep long lasting friendships are so rare nowadays, so it's always so sad when one gets put on hold until another realm.

And such a touching story about Penny! My first dog was named Penny, and we had her from when I was 5 until I was away at college. She was the only family member to get up early with me when my HS went into double sessions and I had to leave ridiculously early. And she was always there to greet me when I got home. My heart shattered when we had to put her down.

This little Penny looks absolutely ecstatic to have found her new forever home!

Well, that was an up-lifing post although i am very sorry for the loss of your life-time friend. I think you are dealing with it in the most comforting of ways and I, too, believe that you will meet again. I lost my best friend to cancer nine years ago. I was truly lost without her as she was my side-kick and with whom I spent most of my time when not with family. I know that empty feeling when you have to say good-bye. Time will heal and your wonderful memories with her remain. I have siad before how I love your work. The shawls are beautiful and your cards are so creative. Gorgeous. And I am so happy for little Penny. :-)
Bless her heart and her new family. xo

I am so sorry for your loss of such a close friend. As a hospice nurse, I am convinced that you will meet again someday. I've seen too many explainable things to think otherwise. I lost my sister to cancer 2 years ago... my best friend and only sibling. Not what I expected in my early 50's. Things are never the same, but it does get easier.
That is one lucky pup.. looks like a nice fit for their family! I bought two of your tea towels years ago... you mailed them all the way to California... I will have to get a mobius from you when your stock is back up. BTW, I love the cards!

Welcome to my world.
