Kid germs.

Sicker than the proverbial dog.
Ack.
My mother always said you can catch a cold faster from a child than anyone else, and apparently that is so true.  Super germs.
I watched baby Dale last Monday, she had the sniffles.  By Friday I had the sniffles, and they were deceptively mild, for days.
Then Monday night, as we were in the movie theater watching "The Revenant", I began to feel sick.
By Tuesday morning there was no doubt.  Now I am full tilt miserable.

So....." The Revenant"........I concur with a Facebook friend's comment.....the cinematography was incredible.  DiCaprio was amazing.  But on the down side, I did have to close my eyes a few times, there was no way I could intake some of it.  Very violent and graphic.
That being said, no one deserves an Oscar more than Leo.  Truthfully, he had to have frozen his butt off for the entire shooting of the film, which took MONTHS in the worst conditions possible.  The film does have that WOW factor, making you wonder how the hell they did what they did.
I came right home and googled, and found that in truth, no animals were killed in the making of this film, but you sure thought that there were.

Yesterday I spent most of the day on the couch, sleeping intermittently, knitting.  I am knitting an OWL hat that I found online.

Mine is a lighter gray than the one on the pattern, and while the instructions say it is for a woman, the one I am making will perfectly fit Dale, who is TWO.  So I have to adjust the pattern to make a bigger one.  It is really pretty fast and easy though.

Someone asked for my scone recipe, but since there was not an email to reply to, I posted it under the RECIPE tab at the top of the page.  Note that I have adjusted the recipe to suit myself, after making it a bunch of times.  And you can really add whatever you want, although I must admit the cranberries and pistachios might be my fave.

The other day I made this broccoli cheese soup, and bread.  The soup might be my absolute favorite ever.  It was so good, it didn't last long.

Both these recipes are on my Pinterest page....link on the right side, top of this page.

I did manage to finish 10 towels off the AVL before this respiratory bug hit.

They are nice, but I like the gold warp better, it was a lot more fun.  I better learn to like it, there are 35 more towels to be made.

I don't adapt well to being sick.......I want to do things, and there is always so much to do.
But when your body says no loud enough, you sit.

This is my view when I SIT in the studio by the fireplace.

ROY, baking until he is hot to the touch.

Sydney, lounging on the BACK of the chair.

The AVL waiting for me to get off my butt and get to work.

The Schacht 36 waiting for LOIS to get here.

One thing about getting older, that I guess I should have expected, having lived with my mother for the last ten years of her life, is that we get nostalgic a lot.  It's not that I don't appreciate what I have in my life now, or that I am unhappy with it.  I love my grandkids and my daughters just the way they are, but still, there is a part of me that misses times gone by with them.

Here is a throwback, me and AVA in Niagara Falls.  She is going to be 11 next month.

Where the hell has the time gone????

I have that same miserable cold.. for the past week! bleh.

I think I enjoy seeing your life in that old beautiful farm house almost as much as you love living there, isn't that silly?

Feel better, friend. Alka Seltzer cold seems to be helping, some.

I've avoided that nasty cold....knock wood. Yesterday I got a massage and Helen was at the end of a cold. If I catch one now, I'm going to know who gave it to me and I'm not going to be happy. Being sick is an awful waste of time. Feel better soon.

You do great work on that loom. My wife has a floor model loom and enjoys weaving. I would think that there would be a lot of satisfaction in creating something beautiful.

Yep, I caught a case of the sniffles myself. I've been hitting the zinc. Of course that brings on nausea.
Heading for the covers with 7 of the best nurse maids ever. :-) Feel better Hilary, that could has got to send your headache right through the roof.
PS: I ordered a Wolf Pup LT. Thanks for all your advice.

Hope you feel better soon. I had the upper respiratory crap 2 weeks ago. I'm still getting over it but I got a sinus infection from it, and just got meds for that yesterday. Hoping in another week, I feel more "normal." I spent a good part of 2 weeks not doing much. However, lots of saline spray, nose blowing, tea with honey, and laying low helped.

I agree with you - where the hell does time go? I can't even believe January 2016 is over this weekend! Shocking....

Your soup and bread looks yummy. I'm off bread, pasta and rice due to trying to lose weight. However, I'm now at a standstill. The Mister doesn't eat cheese or dairy in general, so he wouldn't eat the broccoli cheese soup which looks wonderful - if I made it, I'd probably eat the entire thing myself. Probably not good. But I'm gonna go look for the recipe anyway!

Take care, feel better.

Sorry you've been feeling puny. Colds are awful and children seem to find the extra nasty ones to share with family.

I so love your towels! I still think they're too nice to use. LOL

If you're looking for where the time went, it's not here! It seems like yesterday I began a new job. Now, I'm planning my retirement. Where did those 32 years go? I remember bringing my son home from the hospital. He turned 29 last week. I still call him my little "zucchini squash". I thought that "pumpkin" was over-used. LOL Ah, memories...

Have a good evening!

I'm wondering if you didnt catch a chill from the movie to add to the germs from Dale ... that snow was intense ... as my husband said - for all the violence who doesnt love a good revenge tale ...

I really want to see "The Revenant". I don't care much for snow, so I will probably be shivering through the whole movie, but it looks like such a good one!
I really hope that you are feeling better soon! I dread getting sick. I have COPD, so that will weaken me and then I live by myself, so there will be no one here to hear me moan and groan. (Not that I really do that) When I'm sick I really do like to be left alone, but it's nice to have someone hover from time to time.
Yes, time has flown by and it seems that as we age, the time flies faster.
Take it easy sweet Hilary! Get well soon!

I knit that owl hat a few years ago for my daughter, and it fit her perfectly. But I'm a loose knitter. You must be a tight knitter?

Visit your blog all the time...Love the photos-today and every day.

The owl hat is adorable! Makes me want to learn to knit!
I have no kids to blame cold germs on but still came down with the crud.
Hopefully you are over it by now and back to work on your happy towels!

Hope you are feeling well soon. I made that very same hat for all four grandkids for Christmas. I love the pattern and they did too. Isn't it nice we can fall back on knitting when we don't feel like getting up and doing other things that require more energy. Get well quick.

Welcome to my world.
