Crazy as a Loom

A done deal.

After spending several days, trying to convince myself that I, alone, could do the yard work at the studio, I caved.
Yes, I caved.   I called my landscapers, Darrell and Darrell, (not their real names), and made a date for 9am this morning.
At 4pm, quitting time for them and me, one look around was all it took to make me seriously glad I made the decision I made.

This area was thick with bamboo this morning......the whole length of the fence.  They mowed the entire acre and a half, and they did a whole lot of general cleaning up.
And I did what I love to do.  I wove more rugs.
I probably spent WAY too much time trying to figure this one out.  I had this crazy idea that I should do it all, and not spend the money.
But the truth of the matter is that my body is not quite as spiffy as it once was.  There was a time when I could garden all day, and not wake up like a pretzel the next morning.
As I like to say, acceptance is the answer to all my problems today.  When I accepted that it was just not worth it to me, to do all the yard work; that in fact if I wore myself out doing it, there would be less of me to weave, I felt much better.

Perspective.   It seems there is always work to do on it.

L is still away volunteering.
Sydney says:
Where the heck are you, L?

Don't you love me anymore?????

When I got to the studio this morning, and fed everyone, I headed over to the Hammett loom, to continue weaving 'container' rugs.
This is what I found.

Hammock, anyone????

Um, could I do some work here???

When I die, I want to come back as a cat, but not a cat that has to have her babies under a shed, a cat that has to depend on the kindness of crazy cat people to eat.
I want to be this kind of cat.
Spoiled.

I am still on the same container.  Wild, isn't it???

And I am having fun with it, still.
I am enjoying this break from orders, while it lasts.
I am also stocking the shelves, which is a good thing.
If it keeps getting warmer, I will be dyeing fabric outside soon.
Oh, joy.

Sometimes we just have to give in to our bodies signs, I have to do gardening in bits and pieces now, and I don't even mow !
Those kitties are the lucky ones, I wouldn't mind coming back as a spoiled kitty myself, I am still smiling at your pictures ;)
Hugs,

"This is my brother Darryl and my other brother Darryl". LOVED that silly show! Glad you got help with the yard. Like you said, more time to spend doing what you love so much.

I adore your ever-so-spoiled kitties. God bless them! They lucked out!!!

I too want to come back as a loved kitty - more specifically - one of your kitties. The loom hammock looks so comfortable! Ah, the life of a beloved Hillary cat - that is priceless.

My daughter just told me that when she is employed, that she will be hiring someone to do the yardwork for us. I can't do it all (see your pretzel comment)
I slept in the sun today. Just practicing for when I come back as a cat.
Still loving those container rugs. So cheery!

Your kitties are great! Heck, I would love to come back as one of your cats! I, too, used to garden all day and now have to listen to my body and pace myself. Looking at the positive side... you helped two men find work for the day and you got all of the positive benefits! Well done!

You know, life is too short to do yard work unless you want to (or HAVE to). Last year I finally had someone mow for us, which was necessary due to being away all summer, and I didn't miss pushing that mower around at all. Good for you! And love the reference to Darrell and Darrell. Where was Larry?

Hilary,

It's called wisdom. That's the gift of being where we are at this stage of our lives. I have
pampered animals too. Our cat Spooky is 13 and what a life he has. Joy oh joy. Love your container rugs. A tutorial on dyeing your fabric out doors would be good too, please. Have a wonderful day oh wise one.

That does make a great hammock.. Hubby and Rowdy were in ours a few days ago and one of the hooks in the tree broke loose and they tumbled to the ground... Hubby has a bit of a sore hip, but he bought a new hook and the hammock is back up and waiting for them again.. LOL

Was that the Bob Newhart Show? Leaking memory is failing me here, but I do love the kitties and the surprise rugs.

Welcome to my world.
