Brrr.

Ah, yes, it's cold.  Too cold. And I've worried and worried about Next and Nuff.........but in their own cat stubborn "know it all" way, they resist coming in the house.  So today, I'm looking out the window, at their box on the porch, and it occurred to me that there wasn't much to stop the wind, and that maybe we should have put it in a more sheltered place.

L, the cat hater, listened, and then in her best cat hater fashion, took a ride up the road to a local farm, and made THREE trips back and forth with a bale of hay in the back of her Subaru each time.

Now their box is surrounded on its exposed three sides, with sturdy bales of hay, and there are a few heavy rugs on top of it, and the heated pad inside.
Now if they will just curl up together,  they can stay warm.
I will probably still worry, but not so much.
Thank goodness for  Aunt Lois  the cat hater.

(Next on a rug in warmer days)

Life around here is pretty exciting.

I spent quite a bit of time organizing my knitting needles.  They were in a jumbled mess in a big box, and I finally had enough of searching for the needles I needed.
I probably have every size anyone would ever need, in straight needles, circular needles, and double pointed needles.  But they don't do me much good when I can't find them.

I think it's winter, it makes me zero in on junk drawers, and makes me want to live a more minimalist life.
I am half way through my books and saved magazines.
My kitchen cupboards are next.

I recently realized that when I do my own laundry of jeans, long sleeve shirts and under wear, I do the same clothes over and over.   I do the laundry, wear the same clothes the next week, and then do the laundry again.  I am so NOT a clothes horse.  That bit of information inspired me to go through my closets and my dresser, and bag up a LOT of clothes that I haven't worn in longer than I can remember.
I also matched all my socks, and threw out all the ones with holes.  What I found out is that I really have plenty of socks, now that I can find them.
Now I know this is probably driving you wild with excitement, but hey, it's winter in New York.

And before I bore you to tears, I'm going to go drink my hot chocolate, before it gets cold.
Staying warm is my Number ONE priority.

It must be the New Year.. new beginnings.. organized beginnings? So far I am only dreaming of cleaning out my closet. Right now I am knitting a project that will require me to switch to circulars in about another hour of knit time... I know I have them with some unfinished project stuffed in a bag somewhere. Sigh, will I ever learn?

Now why can't I make myself do all this? I really need to yet I can't force myself or get the urge. Maybe you should come down to Maryland and show me where to begin. My place will keep you busy.

Love what you did for the kitties. You and L.

I should really check my wording and spelling before I hit Publish this comment...
Clothes horse...meh! I am so not one of those. I have five pairs of jeans, a couple of sweatpants and about a dozen shirts. Laundry is easy. I think the cats have someone wrapped around their fingers..er..claws.
It's gotten warmer here. Thank Goodness. I shouldn't brag, our really cold is probably toasty for you. But I am in California and I am spoiled. Does that make it okay since I have confessed?

I was doing junk drawers and piles of magazines etc. but a dear friend and mentor bought me a winter surprise to use..a warping mill. I love warping on it as you can sit down, She also loaned me a 30 inch Structo table top loom on legs,,, my first attempt at 8 shaft and I am loving it too! I reminded my husband that looms do reproduce,,,This is the 5th, good thing we have a big house!!

I've also been cleaning our drawers and closets. Finally getting rid of "I'll keep this, I'll lose weight" type of clothes just taking up space & gathering dust. Thrift shop is making out good ha ha
Maine is in a deep freeze and brrrrrr it is some cold. Come hot weather I won't complain again....but in all honesty I probably will. Never seems to be a happy medium. Celia~Maine

Most people, i think, wear the same clothes over and over. Even my clothes horse Sweetie who thinks he can't live without the jam packed closet and dresser, hasn't worn most of the stuff in forever.

Enjoy your cleanouts! They can be cathartic.

Surely are thinking of you and yours in this deep freeze.

Love that L works so hard at keeping the "boys" safe.

Eagerly awaiting an update on their new hay pen in terms of protection.

It seems no matter where we live, or what the weather is, winter is just the time we stay in and sort drawers and closets. It is actually fun.

Next looks too gorgeous in the warmer day photo...as long as they can get out of the wind and be warm if they want to what can you do? cats are more stubborn that mules...

ah, the joy of having less...packing things away for the local animal charity garage sale in a few months...

I've been hankering for a hot flash or two here in NW Indiana! We were in the negative digits yesterday. Yikes. I do think it's winter that makes you just want to clean out, pare down and live simply. I love it! I try not to leave the house without taking something with me to the resale shop to donate. I'm the same with clothes...I'd be fine with a few pair of jeans and a few sweaters, and just wear them over and over. I think I own five pair of shoes total!
