Sweet Sunday

Lovely, lovely morning.  Good thoughts prevail.
Roy and I took a LONG walk by the river early, and even though he drank the liter of water I brought him,   I didn't much notice the humidity until the home stretch.
We were gone so long, DH was thinking of looking for us.
It did me good, and Roy, too.
He is now sleeping in the sun in the AC.  Smart dog.
I am trying to take lessons from him.
How to live, how to relax, how to be in the moment.  How to love the people in your life, all the time.
How to savor every single minute.

Then mid morning, my youngest came and took my mother to the Salvation Army.......my husband went to do some errands, and I was alone.
In my house.
Alone.
Me and Roy.

Can I just tell you how good that feels.  To be in your own house, by yourself.  I had forgotten.
So I made some veggie burgers from a recipe out of the newest Vegetarian Times, with quinoa and black beans.  And garlic. Yum.

Then, because I seemed to be on a roll, I  made a pumpkin, blueberry pound cake.  OH. MY.
As I was gathering the ingredients, I briefly acknowledged that my mother hates blueberries, and my husband hates pumpkin.
Briefly.
Then I skipped around the kitchen, and made it anyway.
Tra la.   I said that, out loud.  Tra la.

The house smells delish.  Let me tell ya.
There is something to be said for pleasing yourself.

It was a good day.  I spent the day with the family I love,   Lots of swimming, laughing, good food, conversation.

And pumpkin blueberry cake.
What a great day.

It took me a long time to remember to live in the moment and do things for "me", and I still have times when I have to remind myself to do it. Glad you had a good day and a cake that you like.

I can't imagine what pumpkin and blueberry taste like together...I think I'll have to give it a try. I'm assuming you have the hot, humid weather that Minnesota had last week. Hopefully you will get what we had today, which was beautiful blue sky, 85 degrees and 50% humidity. Simply heavenly!

I love to be alone in my home too. Like you, it is a treat and doesn't happen often. Sounds like you had a great day. I spent the day at a festival and it felt good to be out and about and now sweltering in the heat. Tomorrow....rain.
Is that an icing on the cake? Maybe you could give us the recipe. Maybe. Hugs, Deb=^..^=x4

Sorry...I meant to type NOT sweltering. It has been so hot lately that you cannot be outside.

Your wind chime takes me back to the Philippines when everything seemed to be made of capiz shells. I think that one has been around for a while. How fun - pool play!

Welcome to my world.
