Such a small thing.

If you have been visiting here often, you know that I have been wanting to get rid of my Kalamazoo kitchen stove.
It was in the studio when I bought the house.  It is a lovely piece, but needs to be used, and I am not about to.
It is a coal/wood stove, and has probably been here since it was new.
The problem is that most people that want it, don't have a clue how to move it.
It weighs 600 lbs, and that's a problem.

I

For me, it took up working space, and I didn't like it.
Finally, after advertising it many places, and coming down, down, down on the price, I found an antique dealer who wanted it for his store.

So this morning, we locked the cats in the other end of the house, and got ready.

We had a total of four husky men to move it.  Just the right number.

First they lifted it onto a dolly.  No small feat.

Then they wheeled the dolly out through the front room to the door.

The hardest part, and the most worrisome, was taking it down the ramp to the yard.

But it went out like a dream.

They slid it out the door on planks, to a piece of plywood, then exchanged the plywood for planks, and then plywood, until.....

They got it down to the trailer........

and loaded.

Halle-freaking-lujah.

And now my sewing machine has taken residence in that corner, and the loom is tucked into the other corner.
And we can see the floor.

And all is well with the world.
Sometimes the simplest things can make me so happy.

  5. I always do a happy dance when I get rid of things I no longer want, love our use. Even if it's just a pile of clothing going to Goodwill.

Glad you now have a sewing corner.

  6. It was such a beautiful old stove, and one that would be highly sought after for log home kitchens or authentic vintage decor...
Now you have more space, and someone will get the appliance of their dreams :)
