Where does the time go even?? I guess I am getting old, because it speeds by faster and faster.
Today is my 70th.......yes, omg.......really. MY 70TH BIRTHDAY.
How the hell?????
Well, no sense crying about it. Truth is, I am grateful to be here, in light of what has transpired.
So hallelujah, and amen.
And thank you.
Just a few photos, to show you what's going on around here.
Syd is still the queen.
I still love this old house..........it sustains me most days.
I don't care about modern kitchens with granite.
I like my basic set up.
It works.
It's the house I've always wanted, my whole life.
And there's no way to really explain that.
I just knew it from the moment I walked in the door.
We've been weaving up a storm......L and I.
Some scarves......
Some chenille....
What Lois is weaving on right now......
My birthday gift from L.......
I love it.
And a Le Creuset dutch oven......from DH. I've wanted one forever.
I've been doing some sewing. This is a great space to work in.
The sun pours in the south facing windows all afternoon. Photos of quilts coming soon.
Getting through winter with a lot of homemade soups, but every now and then I crave a really nice salad.
I'll be back.....
"Happy Birthday to you, Hilary" and many more. It's always nice to read a post from you. I'm glad to hear I'm not the only one shoveling. I only wish I was shoveling for chickens. :) It's on the wish list.
ReplyDeleteHappy birthday-you've been missed. I assumed you'd gone to FL.
ReplyDeleteHappy Birthday Hilary.... you are living the dream
ReplyDeleteI sure wish I was closer and we could visit in your kitchen.
I think it would be a nice time ...
:) Susan
Ahhh, Hilary, I don't know how long I've been following ya ... maybe as long ago as the beginnings
ReplyDeleteof me own blog. But I'm always so glad when a post of yours pops into my reader. I don't comment
all that often, yet I'm still out here in the interpixies, smiling at your descriptions of simple daily life which bring you such
pleasure and contentment amidst all the whirlwinds. Can any of us hope for more? I mean, REALLY.
So HAPPY BIRTHDAY my blogging compatriot!! And thank you for your presence out here.

ReplyDeleteHappy Birthday! May you persist for many, many more years! ;-) You will love your dutch oven. Over the years I have acquired 3 of them in various sizes and they get a great deal of use in my kitchen.
ReplyDeleteHappy birthday dear Hilary! I am usually a lurker and rarely comment, but I could not miss the chance to wish you the happiest of birthdays, especially this one. I am four years ahead of you in time, but so far I'm loving old age. I love your birthday present from L, too. :-)
ReplyDeleteHappy Birthday Hilary! I can see why you love your old house... it has so much light and warmth. What is the term now... Hygge? You've got it! Great birthday gifts!
ReplyDeleteHappy Birthday! What more need be said?
ReplyDeleteHappy Birthday! It is wonderful to see sweet Sidney's little face, it has been a long time. Your home is wonderful and I don't blame you one bit for loving so much.
ReplyDeleteHappy Birthday Hilary! You are really hitting your stride girlfriend. You got the right formula for life--love what you do and it really shows in your spaces. It takes years to develop the space that enables us to create the way we truly desire. Love your breadboard table, your new Le Creuset, your mantle shelf, and your sewing room! It did not look like that when I visited you last. It is so warm and inviting with all of that light. Keep on keeping on, my friend. You are doing a marvelous job of taking care of what God has given you, especially yourself. Hope to visit you soon. Marilou
ReplyDeleteHappy Birthday! Your house looks so warm and cozy, and it's good to see Sid!
ReplyDeleteHappy Birthday! I miss when you when you don't blog. Happy weaving and now I must get back to my loom.

Have a happy. I know how you feel about your house, mine is 130 years old and I've primped it up some but I love it as much as the day I moved in almost 30 years ago! I have a sign above the door: "This IS my happy place." Sometimes I wish for a little extra room so I didn't have to have my floor loom in the living room but there you are. You'll love your dutch oven. Way back when I first moved out on my own my mom gave me a set, 2 dutch, 2 sauce and 2 fry pans. That was close to 40 years ago before they got so ridiculously expensive and I still use them all the time.
ReplyDeletebelated but heartfelt .. happy birthday from february babe to another!
ReplyDeleteHappy Birthday Hilary, thank you for the gift of your blog. Your home is lovely and warm and thank you for inspiring me to take up weaving again. Nancy
ReplyDeleteHappy birthday! Age is just a number. It is how old you feel that matters. Some days I am 18! Lol.
ReplyDeleteI love your house!
I'm a few days late, Happy Birthday! Beautiful new grandson :)
