Now I know the title is a bit misleading. I have not reconciled with anyone, there is really no one to reconcile with.
Oh, there is one person I am SO done with. A disrespectful blight on the earth.
But that's another story.
I am on pretty good terms with everyone I know.
The reconciliation is a MONTHLY duty, with Quick Books, the accounting program I use to keep my business on track.
I think they called it QUICK Books because they had a sick sense of humor.
Anyway, once a month, I have to balance it all out. Twice. Once for my Paypal account, and once for my bank account.
Now the Paypal account can be a few dollars off, I am not a stickler about that.
But my bank account has to balance, preferably to the penny.
Some months are easier than others. Some months just stink.
But I am nothing if not determined.
I have been working on May's reconciliation for four days, on and off. I work on it for awhile, leave it, go back, work some more.
I don't let myself get too crazily annoyed, I walk away if I feel myself getting that way. Then I do something else, and go back at it fresh.
Today, day four, but who's counting, I got it down to a $99 difference. Now that figure did not come up anywhere....so how could that be?
Out loud, I said....they are JUST numbers, that's all. They HAVE to add up. It's factual. There is no reason for this NOT to work.
Finally, after staring at the screen, and the lists of deposits, and checks, for what seemed like hours, I saw a $1.00 error, which led me to believe that I had taken out $100.00 at some point, from the ATM, arriving at $99.
And there it was.
Why don't balloons explode out of the top of my computer when I get it??
That's what I want to know.
So, at last, I am reconciled.
In between, I hung out some bleached loopers to dry.
I had to empty some containers so I can dye fabric tomorrow.
It looks like it will be a 'good day to dye'.
Sorry, I couldn't resist.
Last week, L and I wove the 5x7 sock rug for an order, and these are the two rugs we wove for the shop.
Wild pink and purple, with some lime and turquoise thrown in.
Purple, turquoise and lime green.
And now for the giveaway........
I am going to use the random number picker......so you don't have to name anything this time.
The giveaway is a Hip to Be Square Rag Rug Kit.
Kit consists of the 9" square looper loom, two hooks, directions, and enough loopers to make a 2'x3' rag rug.
Or you could just make a whole bunch of potholders from this kit, instead of a rug. It's your choice.
You know you're gonna love it, and if you don't, it makes a great gift!!!!
All you have to do is be a follower, and comment, but please, leave your name or email address or something so I can contact you if you win.
I will draw the number on Saturday night, June 17th, around 6pm. The winner will be announced then.
Just one thing....if you don't live in the continental US, you can still win, but you will have to pay shipping.
Coming up tomorrow, a big dye mess. I will try to take pictures. Stay tuned.
Oh my goodness....am I first to comment? I'd love the kit. One of those rugs would look great in front of my kitchen sink!

That is a cute rug! Count me in, please.
ReplyDeleteHilary, I love the shot of the loopers drying on the fence! I did a really bad pun just now, too-- over at Country Girl. Is there something in the air? Reconcile? Reconcile? What is that?? I figure the bank knows what it is doing, at the end of the day when my Quicken says one thing, my checkbook says another, my bank statement says a third and my calculator comes up with a different sum each time I do the tally. That's when I enter the word "reconcile" into the accounts and add or subtract until it matches the bank. Some months she takes away, some months she is super generous. Always a surprise. (Have I won yet??) ;o)
ReplyDeleteI love your looper rugs and would love to be able to make one for myself. *fingers crossed*
ReplyDeleteI love that loom rug. However what I'd really love to save my pennies for are your blue jean rugs...I simply have the perfect space for one!
ReplyDeleteI love seeing your all your rugs. Very inspiring! I wish I had a huge, sturdy loom to make rugs on, but I certainly wouldn't say no to peg loom kit!

ReplyDeleteSomedays you make me smile, somedays you make me laugh, some days you make me think....I always enjoy reading your blog. And today, I think I would love to have one of your little looms!
ReplyDeleteMe too (exclamation point)
ReplyDeleteOh my goodness, if I win I could make my very first rug, ever!! Pick me!!! !!! xo
ReplyDeleteLove to have a chance to learn a new weaving method! Am I the only one that did not weave pot holders as a child? NancyG22368@hotmail.com
ReplyDeleteI know there has to be a method to that mass of loopers drying on the fence, but I see the potential for a tangled mess if it were to be handled by less skilled hands than yours. A big pile of wet loopers must weigh a lot.
ReplyDeleteAccounting is for math people ... and I'm NOT a math person. It's a struggle.
You and your luscious colours.. so beautiful. I'd love to be included. It counts that I follow you on Google Reader, right?
ReplyDeleteLove the loopers on the fence-would love to get a rug kit, count me in
ReplyDeleteLove to have my name thrown in the hat. That looks fabulous. I'm a follower. Hugs, Deb=^..^=x4
ReplyDeleteI'm an accountant and I've used Quickbooks for years, and yes - you will find it and balance, sometimes it takes longer than others.
ReplyDeleteI could make a rug to fit my RV.

Love your blog. Love your rugs. Hope to win. I have 3 kitties that would love a chance to sit on it and have their pic taken. =^,,^=
ReplyDeleteI would love to win this loom! I remember making many a pot holder on the plastic ones during Summer Arts & Crafts in the Park (when I was a kid... many moons ago)... With this loom... I think I'd piece them all together to make the rug sample you show... or maybe even get a set of placemats going... the loopers drying on the fence is a great pic! Should make a great rug too!

ReplyDeleteDid I miss understand you? The loopers on the fence were bleached? From where I am sitting they look nice and bright... Love both rugs, the bright pink rug is just super! Please count me in for the rug kit, it would be lovely to share with my Grandaughter - hopefully it will give her the weaving bug.
ReplyDeleteHow do you keep those bleached loopers from being all tangled up? It is a beautiful piece of artwork on the fence though.
ReplyDeleteI love all your new colorways of rugs. So cheery! Well, I believe everything you make is cheery.
I would love to own one of your looper looms. And to make one of those looper loom rugs...that would be the icing on an already delicious cake!
