I love seeing the end result of a lot of hard work. I especially love it when it turns out this good.
This is a 10x12 blue jean rug, woven in two pieces, and sewn together. The lady who ordered it actually lived close by, and not much out of my way, so I offered to deliver it. Then when I got there, of course we both wanted to see it on the floor, so I helped her move the furniture and put the rug down.
I can not tell you how many pairs of jeans are in this rug, I lost count. I know it was so heavy, we had to carry it in together.
After the weaving weekend, I was tired. But today, I feel like I am catching up. But there are times when I feel like this.
Going round, and round, chasing myself......
meeting myself coming and going.........
slowing down, speeding up.......hanging on.....
getting a little dizzy.....
It is great to do what I love, it "moves" me to recycle textiles into rugs, and have them hit the floor smiling.
But there is more to life than work. Like watching little girls spin around trees. Walking my dog, spending the afternoon with my aging mother, going to Maine with my husband for a quick getaway.
Self proclaimed workaholic, I am trying to learn balance. I will be doing it til the day I die.
Disappointment - I clicked onto that suggestion. I'm married to "a friend of Bill's" as they say. I hope you found our group. I value the 12 steps - they work IMHO.
ReplyDeleteI am, and always will be, a grateful member of Al Anon. Brought sanity and serenity to my life. You are right, they do work.
ReplyDeleteThe rug is amazing-you wove it so quickly, too! I think my pile of jeans might become a rug and not a quilt as planned. The pictures are, as they say, worth a thousand words. I think all of us feel the 'spinning round and round' cycles of days sometimes; they make the other times even more wonderful.
ReplyDeleteDelighted hands......you are SO right. You do appreciate the other times that much more.
ReplyDeleteYour rug is stunning, just amazing to me. Balance is something I struggle with also, it's so easy to do so much for everyone else and neglect myself. Hope your getaway with hubby was a fun time.
