Yesterday it was 73......and at night the peepers are singing their song.
Nothing says winter is over more than Roy laying in the sun.
Last week, I threaded 780 threads, in the wrong size reed. So very annoyed, I took them out, and rethreaded them in the right reed, YES, all in the same day.
Can anyone say KNOT IN THE SHOULDER BLADE???
The pain came right through to my chest, I thought I was having a heart attack..
......I continue to be my own worst enemy???
Aren't we all????
Because I don't eat meat, I often have to come up with diner ideas for myself.....when DH is grilling a steak.
One of my favorites in a bean, mushroom, spinach quesadilla. It is the bomb.
I've been doing a little dyeing. I am always amazed at how well it turns out.
And some weaving.........
While Lois was off vacationing, I did some organizing, and cleaning.
I am trying very hard to have some balance........I weave a while......then I go do something else. That pain in my shoulder blade got my attention.
I do yard cleanup about 20 minutes a day. It has to add up to something, I figure, without causing my shoulder too much pain.
I am beyond grateful to be retired, and have the choice daily to do whatever I want. I dreamt last night that I was back in the prison system, passing out meds on the blocks. I woke up in a sweat.
It is incredibly sweet to have every day as a blank slate, up to my imagination.
Who knew??
Retirement is so enjoyable. I worked in a hardware store (two separate stores) eleven years total. I always worked in service positions where ever I worked. I loved the customers (most anyway) and I loved the work I did, but I always felt as though I was just a rung in the owner's ladder to make it to the top. They treated us all pretty crappy. Needless to say, I am glad to be out of there. Funny thing...I make more money retired than I ever did working. (Thank goodness)
ReplyDeleteI spend a lot of time thinking about what to do and I know I waste a lot of time, but now it is my time and as long as I don't feel regretful about the way I am spending my time, well, I guess there is nothing wrong with it!
Yes, it is incredibly sweet to have the choice of what to do or not! Love Roy in the sun. I've seen the horses doing the same thing here although we had snow last night. Spring comes late here and in drips and drabs. The hand dyed is beautiful!
ReplyDeleteI love that blue and gold hue weave!!...
ReplyDeleteAnd I would love to hear some prison block stories, your life as a nurse there - had to be something incredible - and I know not in a great way, but wow, what a career - nerves of steel you must have. Consider a post on the subject? I bet you could write a book, but prefer not to..
So happy for you, living the life you absolutely deserve at this stage of the game.
Threaded and re-threaded all in the same day?! Ouch! I can only work at my loom a few hours and I'm in pain. Your weaving is gorgeous! And, I love the colors in the yarn you dyed. Beautiful!
ReplyDeleteIts very true- I love the leisure of my days when I am feeling up to it, and I stay busy all the time- I can always find something to do. Your weaving is dreamy- the blue and gold- my faves and so soothing and calming to me. I wrap in the knitted prayer shawls that have been sent to me, just to keep my shoulder warm in the mornings, but they don't look nearly as soft and pretty as your weaving does. I'm with Karen- having worked inpatient psych for 5 years I know you have plenty of stories to share! Would love to hear some too!
ReplyDeleteI have been following your blog for a few years as I struggled with when to retire. I finally did it 2 weeks ago! I is wonderful! I do pottery and my creative juices have begun to awaken. I was a nurse for 45 years - served my time too. I had a dream last night about management deadlines and awoke with my heart pounding! Not good for the body or soul! Thanks for writing your blog, it has helped me make retirement decisions. Nurse trust other nurses to tell it straight! Thanks!
ReplyDeletePenny
I'm sorry - I laughed out loud at your heddle story. That sounds like something I would do. Your days sound like mine - a half hour here, an hour there. I have to fit my PT exercises too. I love having the choice and have created a special hour before bed to read. I learned the hard way though to Not read in bed which prevents me from falling asleep. So I read in my favorite reading chair and then can fall asleep, no problem. Life is good for the broken-neck club :)
ReplyDeleteTax season is over!! I'm back at my loom and it feels wonderful. I love your retirement stories & comments. My mailbox is inundated daily with information about retirement. Who told the world I'm turning 65 this year? I started weaving 2 years ago and it was a great decision. My youngest flew the nest and took his bed with him. The loom fits perfectly in there. Thank you Hillary for your wonderful blog. I love all your stories and pictures. Your weaving is an inspiration. All of you who commented are my retirement advisors.
ReplyDeleteHi Hilary,
ReplyDeleteI know of some things that I think will help/heal your plantar fasciitis.
Since plantar fasciitis is caused by inflammation, Taking Curcumin Phytosome (Meriva), like
https://www.iherb.com/pr/Jarrow-Formulas-Curcumin-Phytosome-500-mg-60-Veggie-Caps/49382
and Boswellia Serrata, like

will prevent the inflammation and allow your heels to heal.
DMSO: In the evening, wash your feet, rub them with DMSO, then put on clean socks. You need to VERY careful that your skin and hands are very clean before you apply it. Wash your hands after applying it.
