Four years ago today, I had the surgery that changed everything. Well, it also probably saved my life.
Funny how those two things go together.
I just went back and read my daughter's post on this blog, on that day.

Amazing. All of it.
Life goes on. Busy as usual.
There were 7 old windows left to be replaced in this old house, and I decided now was a good time.
The old windows did not open easily, did not stay open, were filthy dirty, and there was no way to wash them on the second floor.
The new ones are awesome. Clean, They open, and stay open, did I say they are awesome??
Five in, two more ordered.
It's the little things.
Out on my inside porch, these old beams reside. They were here when I bought the house..
I did not weave today. Horrors.
I spent the morning on the inside porch, getting it ready to be my dye room.
It was an awful job, but it is shaping up nicely.
The shelves are perfect for all my dyes and paraphernalia.
I had to quit after a few hours, my plantar fasciitis was screaming at me.
So ice and rest were in order.
I read my book, "A Man Called Ove".....which I highly recommend.
Here is one of my garage sale finds this weekend.........it came from the house of an old pharmacist.
I love it.
This is the wrap I just finished....
And this is the one I am working on now.
Sometimes I worry that I am not packing enough into my life.
Then I laugh.
Oh my goodness!! I love the beams, I love the new windows, I love your wraps...How amazing to be able to touch and hold history...so perfect.
ReplyDeleteThere is something about color that touches my soul. Thank you for sharing your love of color.
I've been weaving for about 18 months (following an insane career) and was thrilled to find your blog. I adore your clamshell pattern. Do you share the draft? If so, is there a charge for the draft?
ReplyDeleteIt seems to me you are busy. The wrap is beautiful.
ReplyDeleteI started A Man Called Ove yesterday. My dearest friend sent it to me. What a crazy and wonderful book.
ReplyDeleteAnd I remember that post after your surgery. Our lives take so many unexpected turns.
You're living get it well.
Your home/studio looks so wonderful! I have always wanted to live in an old house. How wonderful it must be to live and work in such nice surroundings.
ReplyDeleteYour wraps are beautiful.
Reading "A Man Called Ove" was one of this summer's most delightful experiences. Truly a good read. Love your new windows! The three double hung window in my house from the original construction in 1915 were replaced last late summer...what a magnificent difference of warmth in those two rooms in the winter, and they perfectly hold window fans in the summer.

The beams are awesome! Love love love the mermaid wraps, they are lovely. Very happy that four years have passed since your surgery and you have recovered and are doing so well. Keep it up!
ReplyDeleteI can't agree more with all the positive comments about your mermaid wraps. They are simply stunning. I trust the moms and babies who use them will fall in love with them, too.
ReplyDeleteWhile I am very happy in my 1948 small house, there are always things I love about those big old farm houses, and looking at yours makes me happy.
Your surgery was four years ago and tomorrow it will be three years since I broke my neck. "What doesn't kill us makes us stronger" might be cliche but it's true!
