But even though they were "free", their care was not.
Vet bills, flea medicine, food.
But look at that face.
Today L and I went on a little road trip, to an old church that used to be the home of an interior decorator/upholsterer, who is in the process of moving.
Look at this beautiful window cornice that he made.
But the real reason we were there is because he was interested in getting rid of bolts of fabric that he didn't want to move.
So we loaded up my car.
And all this was FREE.
Free is GOOD.
Here are some of the fabrics.
I am kind of conflicted about cutting them up to make rugs.
I'll try to get over it though.
My father had a theory, that if it was free you should take it.
But that didn't always work out so good.
So I don't always take stuff just because it's free, because deep down inside I am a little afraid of that tendency.
And in that spirit I am giving away some rolls of fabric........mostly blues and black prints. They run 20-40 lbs per roll. If you are interested, email me. You will only have to pay shipping.

And now it's time for Roy's walk. If he can tear himself away from his blankie.
Can you blame him? Fresh air is free.

ReplyDeleteThose are two of the luckiest cats. That sure was a trunk-full. Yes, free is great but so is purging stuff you don't want. I prefer being the one giving it away but then if it's blue and white china...ooooooh! I'll take it! Give that dog a tummy tickle for me and so happy to hear you are out and about having fun. That second chair is nice! I am always amazed by people that can fix furniture. I can wrap a piece of cloth around a flat bottomed kitchen chair but other than that I am completely lost. It's really an art.
ReplyDeleteThat 2nd chair looks just like one I inherited. It belonged to my in-laws next door neighbor originally; they got it when she passed and came to me when they passed. It is so comfortable, and with a footstool in front makes a fantastic place to nap in front of the wood stove in the winter.

Those are beautiful fabrics. I know how incredibly wonderful your rugs are.. and yet, I'd still have a hard time cutting them up. Looking forward to seeing them in action.
ReplyDeleteThat tendency to accept things that are free is a dangerous one indeed. It's hard to learn to say, "No, thank you." Offers of fabric are exempt.
