BIG BIG RUG

After many days of weaving the three sections on the 7 ft Toika, today we were ready to make them into ONE BIG RUG.

Here are the three pieces, just lying next to each other.  When we put them down on the floor, we kind of hold our breaths until we see if they are all the same length.  We measure carefully, but it is still iffy sometimes.

This is the parish house for the Kingsbury Baptist church just down the road from the studio.
It is our designated place to lay big rugs out like this.

We just load up the car with all our 'stuff', and get it done.  Today we took two fans.

Once the seams are together, then we have  to press them.........

And finally, it was done.
You could probably  hear our sign of relief  over at the General Store.

You ALL didn't show up, but we had company anyway.  O wanted to know where Sydney was.

I really love the way this rug turned out.
Do you like it?

Now on to the stair runner, and the kitchen runner that goes with it.

This baby is ready to roll its way right on out to Beverly Hills, California.

Baby boy Roy is lying under my arm, on his back.   He had his teeth cleaned today, and he had small growth removed from his foot.
As soon as he got home, he started trying to get hold of the stitch in his foot with his teeth.
So now he has a sock tied over his paw.
Amazingly, he isn't bothering it.

We are glad to have him home.........the vet said that it looked like he must have been caged at some point in his life, because he had chewed on something, probably metal, and chewed the enamel right off his teeth.

I hope he has forgotten all about those times, because the rest of his life is going to be like the last year........just nothin' but  sweet.  I promised him.

(this is from the other day, but this is how he looks today)

  2. This rug is really lovely, Hillary. I was waiting to see it put together. The colors are luscious. And it's going to Hollywood! Congrats to you! I wouldn't like the job of sewing it together. Can imagine how glad you are to have it done. And that Roy Boy--he's a honey. He landed safely when he found you. What a lucky boy he is.

  5. I really like the colors in that HUGE rug. It's soothing. And its coming to live close to me! Well, relatively close. I'm in Northern CA.
Roy is a lucky boy. Yes, indeed.

  6. The rug is gorgeous. Someone will be very happy to receive it, I'm sure. I have a Yorkie, and when she was a puppy (read "not housebroken yet") I left her in a cage when I went to work. It was a big cage with a steel pan in the bottom, and she tried to chew the edge of it. She was so tiny that her mouth got stuck between the edge of the pan and the wall of the cage. She started making the most horrible, high-pitched "IPE" noises, and when I tried to get her loose, she just got louder. Anyway, I went to WalMart and bought her a plastic pet taxi. She is 11 now, and I'm retired, so I don't have to crate her anymore. She likes to lay in the sliding glass door and sun herself during the day.

  7. I just reread my comment---Hannah wasn't stuck in the cage like that all day---I had put her in there while I was home so she could get used to it. Her mouth was stuck for just a few minutes. Even though I tend to be tight-fisted with the treats at times, I'm not a bad mom.

  10. The rug is stunning! You are so talented, but so is Roy. He is talented at being adorable. I really wanted to reach in and scratch his belly. I'm so glad that you two found each other.

  11. Ok, so I'm going to be the goofball that asks, how the he&& do you ship something THAT big to California? I don't know why I think this way....sorry....

Poor little Roy boy. He's a lucky one now tho. That boy KNOWS he has it good. That's why he can relax like that! I wonder if he tried chewing on the cage at the vet when he had his teeth done...another rambling thought...I used to work at a vet and some of the dogs hated crating. Mine was one of them.

The heat from the iron doesn't bother the vinyl flooring? Ok, another silly random thought. Sorry. That's just the way my mind works. I guess I'm a 2 year old with all those questions! No need to really answer....as I tell my hubby sometimes, it's really hard being inside MY head!

Hug Roy boy for me. He deserves many many hugs.

  12. Martha I was thinking the same things...the shipping must have been a small fortune.

Hate to say it but Roy really does look abused, what are you doing to this poor dog.
