At last.

I finally got three more Physical Therapy appointments approved by my insurance, then I went and cancelled my appointment for today.
Crazy??
Maybe.
But I'm sick of it, folks.  SICK of it.
I have had a headache now for 13 weeks.  SERIOUSLY???
It sounds like a joke.  I must be making it up.
I wish I were.
13 weeks 24/7. A headache.
My God, what did I ever do to deserve this?

So in between weaving more placemats.........

Same warp, different fabrics.........

I did a google search, found a massage therapist that offered a variety of techniques, and made an appointment for this afternoon.   I left the studio early.

I wasn't sure what to expect, but hey, I figured at this point, what do I have to lose?

My chosen therapist is  proficient is Swedish massage, Connective Tissue Therapy, Craniosacral Therapy, Neuromuscular Therapy, Myofascial Release,  Positional Release, and Tera-Mai Reiki.

Bring it on.

So I am ditching, pretty much and at least for now, conventional medicine.
They have not impressed me, helped me, relieved my pain, or given me much hope.

Just like weaving up some Tweety fabric, sometimes things just ain't what they seem.

For more than an hour, he worked on my back, my neck, my shoulders..............I closed my eyes, and  went somewhere other worldly.  At one point, he was pressing on one particularly sensitive muscle group in my back,  and suddenly I felt something just 'let go'.  That must be the release part, but I couldn't believe that I was actually aware of it happening.  It was marvelous beyond description.
And finally, I am hopeful.   I see possibilities.  I feel like I am headed down the right path.
Do you know how exciting that is??

I am going again next Wednesday, and it can't come soon enough.
Hallelujah, and Amen.

  2. Have you considered acupuncture? I have had wonderful results with it after conventional arthritis medication proved too much for my digestive system. I hope you get some relief soon.

  3. Isn't that a wonderful sensation? You start to momentarily wonder if it is in your imagination, too good to be true, then voila! I hope this brings extended relief. There are some very talented alternative medicine people out there who work wonders. I hope this gives you even more relief after the next visit.

  6. Oh I hope this works well for you! I have been having a sore shoulder, stiff neck and numbness/tingling in my left arm for months now and nothing seems to help me. I have been to massage therapy, 2 chiropractors and next a spine dr. I really hope you don't have to go through any more pain. Pain sucks. big time.

I "modified" your Chowda recipe tonight with the available stuff I had in the frig and it was TO. DIE. FOR. THANKS so much for the recipe and especially the photo. When I saw the red peppers in that lovely cheddar chowder I was hooked!

  11. I'm so glad that you've found something to offer the potential for real change. There's nothing like a good massage therapist, and this man, skilled in so many areas, should be able to provide a large range of options.

I don't know how you, or anyone for that matter, manage to function with constant pain. It's beyond my comprehension, as much as being a millionaire is beyond my comprehension.

Good luck and I love the Tweety placemats...what fun!

  16. I am SOOO glad to hear this news! One of my best friends is a very talented massage therapist and I am amazed by the stories she tells me of clients who come to her after years of PT just to find out that the problem was misdiagnosed and that it could be fixed (not just managed) with massage therapy, often with less than a couple of months worth of sessions.

Best wishes with the new therapy - you've been so strong dealing with all of this but I'm sure you're ready to be done with it!

  18. My mother had headaches all my life and when I was in high school, she uncovered some scandahoovian massage therapists, but of course, insurance wasn't an option then. They gave her great relief. I wish you great relief.
