Today was advertised as the last day of this wicked heat wave.......tomorrow is supposed to be 80, and after 100 degrees, 80 sounds just peachy.
So I kept a low profile at the studio today. The cats were all lounging around, looking pathetic.
I worked on mug mats, smaller than usual. Nice coaster size.
Conserving energy.
Finished one warp. And put on another. Used up a lot of small spools all shades of off white.
I put on 30 yards or so, I should have about 60 mug rugs.
I had all the fans going, but it was still pretty hot.
Sometimes, there is too much to think about.
So sometimes, it is good to do something that is so simple, and so routine to me, that I don't much have to think at all.
I am trying to use up thin rolls of fabric, so these mug rugs are not too, too thick.
Do you like "mug rugs" or "mug mats" better?
Or does some other name come to mind???
I just explained to Roy that it is too, too hot to walk tonight. But tomorrow morning it is supposed to be 68 or 70 degrees, and perfect for a long one.
I love how the fabric makes a pattern on this one.
Roy has got me moving. We walk every day. And if we miss a day, like this one, we walk further the next day. I started carrying a old shoulder bag, with a plastic dish, and a liter of water in it, just for him. He's a drinker, that one.
I will never forget my Eddie, but God, do I love this boy. DH feels the same. He has wiggled his way right into our hearts.
Roy is the epitome of simplicity. He's just himself. No bull. Pure love, is Roy.
I think I get into trouble when I think too much.
What about you?
I like the pattern in the light colored ones too. Nice work!

Trust me, I'm always in trouble with the thinking too much.
ReplyDeleteI like mug mats and those white ones are really nice.
Now check out that belly. He has freckles just like Rowdy!! That's one happy boy I tell ya!

I like the mug rugs - very nice! And that picture of Roy? Oh my, what a treasure he is. I just want to rub his belly.
ReplyDeleteLove the white ones to bits. That Roy just calms me the second I look at him. What a sweetheart. Isn't it great how a dog just gets you up and moving. I swear I would weigh 200 lbs if it wasn't for all the walking we do. Have a great Sunday, Hilary.
ReplyDeleteThose are beautiful, no matter what you call them~
ReplyDeleteAND as to dogs needling their way in to your hearts?
We so LIVe that.
Roy is definitely a special dog. I think I love him too!
ReplyDeleteI like Mug Rugs...but Rug Mats is (are?) good too. No matter what you call them they look pretty to me. I do like the patterning on the light colored ones.
Yes, weaving can & does lead to trouble if I don't tame my thoughts while weaving ( gardening too ). It is good to listen to music that inspires me to goodness as I weave, thereby avoiding the urge to voice the thoughts that often come to mind.
ReplyDeleteI am my own worst enemey and it all starts with thinking too much! Wish I could empty out my brain and just "be"...so I know exactly what you're doing to yourself...I listen to audio books when hooking to be distracted...
ReplyDeleteThe new header is great...
Thinking is over-rated.
ReplyDeleteWell it appears that I am not alone in the thinking too much department...comfort in numbers. I also love the white mats, fun how the fabric changes. That Roy sure knows how to relax on a hot summer day...and that belly. Made me smile...laying on his back like that...sign of trust. I am so happy for you all...Stay cool...
ReplyDeleteMug rugs for me too. Love that Roy,he's pretty wonderful. I kinda like the dark ones better, mostly because the white flashes in them look like some kind of code. Wonder what it says...
ReplyDeleteI always get into trouble when I think to much, that's why I avoid straining my brain. :) Roy looks pretty comfy, I think it's time for a cat nap.
ReplyDeleteLove the mug rug mats. :-) Political of me, eh? I like mug rugs for fabric and mug mats for yarn.
ReplyDeleteLove Roy -- and that belly! Too cute.
Thinking -- I say all the time "being in my head is the scariest place to be!"
I am constantly in trouble for thinking too much...
Glad your heat wave is sposed to end. Ours will get less heat, but still be in the 90s.
Enjoy your walks.
Martha
Roy Boy is comfy and happy - love his smile. Like the light colored mats the best, show the fabric's pattern in a nice way. Not sure what to call them, never have like mug rugs sounds a bit silly to me.
ReplyDeleteI like the way "mug rugs" rolls off the tongue! lol
ReplyDeleteRoy looks like such a great dog! Have to admit I felt a little guilty after getting a new dog after Wendy was killed, but realized that it in no way diminished my affections for her! Now this little rascal Rikki is about to drive me to distraction with the housebreaking! Right when I think we've got it licked, she starts having accidents right at the front door. Hubby says "NO, he is not putting a doggie door in the front door"--and knowing her seperation anxiety issues, she probably wouldn't even use it!
80 degrees sounds like an Artic front!!! We're having such HOT, humid days that our windows are all fogged up! Sweat won't even evaporate!
oooh, for SURE!!!... and I'm trying to change that.
ReplyDeleteI just love that Roy has worked out so well for you. You so deserve each other.
I like to crank the celtic music and NOT think... and sometimes I get so carried away I make huge mistakes before I "come to" LOL

Roy has the right idea!
ReplyDeleteI'm Thinky Thinkerstein but what I really want to say is I LOVE ROY'S NOSE AND BELLY AND TEETH.
ReplyDeleteOh.. forgot to also say i love how that fabric is making a pattern! Tres Coole!
ReplyDeleteIt appears Roy has won the life lottery and has come off a winner! I am happy for your new family addition.
