Short and sweet

Let me just tell you that keeping my eyes open is a major accomplishment right now.
For good reason.
I spent half the night in the ER with my mother,  who got admitted to the hospital, finally, from  a
collision with diverticulitis.  Say no more.  She is better today.

I will divulge this:   My mother is always, always trying to discuss the state of her intestines with me.
I refuse to carry on this conversation.
Yup, I was a nurse for 30 years.
I refuse on PRINCIPLE.  I will not do it.

And also, because it is like opening a door just a little, and realizing that you should never  have turned the knob.  Even so, she manages to 'slip' in some minutiae about it, every now and then.

I slept a few hours, not enough, and tried to carry on with the rest of the day, going back and forth to the hospital, and to the studio, and eventually  to my granddaughter's softball game.
I took my camera, and took a LOT of pictures.
I could spend a whole bunch of time sorting them, and posting them, and all that.
But I don't have it in me.  Not now, and not tonight.
I want to concentrate on the backs of my eyelids.  I want it really bad.

So I leave you with the BEST of my pictures.  You know how you can take 200 shots, and yet  ONE jumps out at you, and you say.......ah, yes.
This one did.

It's the light in her eyes, I think.  The sweetness in her smile.
Makes the rest of the day pale in comparison.
Good night all, more pics tomorrow.

  5. OH yes!
A man has a book out about video and I'm sure it would apply to still shots as well. He says always be sure you are close enough to include the whites of the eyes. The eyes tell the story.

  7. I'd say by the set of her jaw, there's bit of her grandmother's determination in her.

Sleep well. Hope your mother's digestive track quiets down...in more ways than one.

  12. She's such an animated pip - I always love your posts of her. My son-in-law was just in ER with colitis - huge scare, now just a good story. Life - ugh.
