with my mother, got her lunch, and listened to her stories.
And I got a break.
One I sorely needed.
It is amazing how calming it is to sit at the loom, and weave a rug. Nothing quite does it for me like this does. I didn't really have an agenda, nothing I needed to do. I just wanted some "me time", as you so rightly put it. It was a rainy day, and the afternoon was gone too soon.
Then on the way home, I did something that I never thought I would do. I stopped at KMart, and bought a baby monitor.
Yes, yes, I really did.
What prompted this was waking up from a sound sleep, well after midnight, when my mother had chest pain last night, and couldn't find her nitro. When her pain was gone, and I went back to bed, I was on edge because I was afraid I wouldn't hear her over her over the rain on the roof.
So .......the baby monitor. For some peace of mind, and rest. Oh, yes, sweet sleep.
I posted about the mourning dove nesting over my hot tub. I guess my house must look bird friendly, because there is a robin nesting on the front porch.
The birds have been eating the berries off this vine all winter, but I wondered when I saw this big robin hovering around.
I can't see any babies, but they must be in there, because she keeps leaving and coming back.
Not happy.
So I took my camera away. I don't want to upset her world.
I know how it feels.
Very clever to use the baby monitor! Your mom can be babied, right?
ReplyDeleteGlad you got in a little weaving too, you need that!

Glad you had an afternoon's break. I hope the monitor will give you peace of mind if nothing else. May you all get some rest tonight.
ReplyDeleteMy Mom and sister live together with my Mom's bedroom on the main floor and my sister upstairs. She bought a baby moniter as well to be sure not to miss anything when Mom's not doing well. I think it's great that you thought of it as well!!
