Either I am getting OLD, or my thyroid is doing LESS and LESS.
I am exhausted.
The worst part is that I don't seem to be doing anywhere near as much as usual, but I am ten times more tired.
I think it is part spring, and part situational. Worry, poor sleep, and lack of same.
I actually hired a couple of guys to rake at the studio. There was no way I was doing it. I couldn't face it. I don't mind a lot of outside work, but raking is something that wears my shoulders down.
I need my shoulders for weaving. Pick your battles, I say.
I did some accounting work, that I hardly mind, and then I wove a couple more small hit and miss rugs.
I use a temple. Always have, since the beginning of my weaving experience.
I know some people say that they take too much time, and that they are unnecessary.
I don't agree.
I use them, I like using them. My rugs are STRAIGHT, and I think I actually weave faster, because I am not worrying about my selvedges.
It is important to put the temple on as soon as you put your scrap fabric in, before your header.
I measure it to the width of the warp in the reed.
I move it every two inches.
I prefer these metal temples made by Toika.
My header is right underneath the temple.
I was thinking today that I have to stop showing you rugs and rugs and rugs.
You must be sick to death of seeing rugs, rugs, rugs.
Even pretty rugs.
No matter how much I love them.
You must be sick of them by now. I mean how many rugs can you see anyway?
On the way home from the studio today, knowing that I hadn't taken many pictures today, and feeling somewhat unmotivated anyway, I wondered if maybe I have run out of blogging material. You all know what I do.
I weave. I teach weaving. I weave some more. I am an addict. I admit it.
Yes, I do other things on occasion.
But mainly, I weave.
And I talk about it.
So maybe it is time to find something else to blog about, or call it a day.
Maybe I am just tired.
Ack.
You are tired. Take a rest and come back and show us some more rugs when you feel like it. I will never tire of rugs...
ReplyDeleteHow is your mom doing today. I'm sure that's wearing you down as well.
ReplyDeleteDI
I love seeing your beautiful rugs, and never tire of seeing them.
ReplyDeleteI understand the thyroid game, I have an underactive thyroid, albeit controlled, I have days of non function.
Take it at your own pace.
Hugs,
~Jo
I am hoping its just that you are tired, get some rest and keep sharing with us. Rugs, cats and weaving, its all good!!
ReplyDeletetake a break from us for a few days, come back and see how you feel then. we'll be patient.
ReplyDeleteIf I didn't like looking at what you are doing I wouldn't keep reading. I check your blog almost every day. I'm even thinking of weaving a rag rug.
ReplyDeleteI'm also anxious about the kittens. Have you seen any sign of Bubbalee and her new family?
Hilary,
ReplyDeleteI never tire of seeing your rugs. If you subscribe to the blog of a weaver, that's what you sign up for.
Diane
I read your blog every day - please don't stop! I enjoy your viewpoint on the world.
ReplyDeleteI love looking at your rugs. I love the colors. I love your stories and your comments on life. Know what I really liked about today's blog? That you did some teaching. You know so much, and I frankly know so little. Loads of blog material, trust me.
ReplyDeleteY'know what's wrong with you? To quote a friend,
it's SOS (Serious Overload Syndrome). Don't be too hard on yourself.
I hear you..I feel exactly the same way.
ReplyDeleteTake care of yourself first..that's what they say.
Your rugs are beautiful...keep up the good work.
Write what you know. You know weaving and though it might not be everyone's passion, your blog, and what you have to say brings us back time and time again.
ReplyDeleteI love your blog, don't stop. I want to be a rug weaver some day too! Would love to hear more about rug weaving, your color choices, sizes, materials! (plus love the animals too)
ReplyDeleteRest up and whatever you do don't stop blogging. I look forward to all your postings.
ReplyDeleteYour new rug is beautiful!
If we got tired of looking at rugs we wouldn't be weavers!
