Oh, my.

I decided to buy a new laptop, partly because this is a good time to spend any money on business expenses, and partly because
I have wanted a new laptop for a while now. I have long had my eye on a Mac, and decided that the next time I bought one, it would be a Mac. So today, my friend Alice and I took a trip to the Apple Store in Albany.
After a lot of talking and listening, I came home with a MacBookPro.
All evening I have been trying to get comfortable with it. It is very impressive, and so different from a PC. But as usual, I am determined. Getting my pit bull mentality on.
When we got back, she and L went to pick up the solar kitty house, that L and her friend made for Momma kitty. It is quite impressive.
From january2011

We situated it right in front of the barn, right where Momma kitty likes to bask in the afternoon sun. After she goes in it a couple of times, we will hang some heavy fabric or felt on the doors on either side, to keep the draft out.
From january2011

Hopefully, she will go in it, and snuggle down in the hay, when the sun is shining. She will have her own little sauna in there.
I'll try to get pictures.
It's been a long day, and I am feeling overwhelmed. I don't have the usual program that I resized pictures with on my Dell, so I am struggling here. With any luck, I will get better.

So good night for now, tomorrow is another day.

  2. I think the next computer I buy will also be a Mac, I hope you enjoy it !
I've never seen a kitty house like that one, almost like a greenhouse.
My Oliver cat likes to sleep in a soft cat bed on the porch, he starts off inside, but I think it is too warm for him.
Wishing you a Happy and Healthy New Year, I've enjoyed our visits back and forth throughout this past year, and look forward to more of the same.
    Hugs,

  5. Nice solar baker for BubbaLee. I've been a Mac user since the first one that wrote "hello" on the screen. If you don't find enough editing tools in iPhoto, there are some other good choices for image editing- Photoshop Elements is on sale until Jan 5, and the other is Lemkesoft's Graphic Converter- shareware, which means you can use it for free, or pay the $40 shareware fee. It's a very good product, and nags you to pay, but if you can stand the nagging, you can continue to use it.

    Happy New Year,
    Kimmen

  6. I've always wanted a Mac. One of my sons has the Mac Book Pro and uses Photoshop for resizing pictures. Good luck with your new acquisition, Hilary! You will get used to it. You will.

  7. Hilary....I made the switch to a MacBook about 4 years ago. It didn't take long to become comfortable with it. Believe me....you won't be sorry and will NEVER go back to a PC. You will soon be a member of the I Love My Mac Club! Welcome!

  9. I'm a Mac girl so let me know if I can help. Given time... you will love it and feel very at home using it.

Happy New Year! It's going to be a warm one here in Virginia with temps in the 50's. Now that's a change!

  10. I switched from PCs to Mac earlier this year (in April). I've done system administration and programming on Unix computers, helpdesk and user support on PCs, and I have to say I *LOVE* my Mac! It did take a while to get used to, and there's still one lone program I need to run on a PC (doesn't work with any of the Windows analogs on my Mac) but I still wouldn't go back.

  13. What a sweet and thoughtful thing to do for a stray cat who doesn't even trust you! You are a dear heart indeed!
I have a new laptop, too - bought it on Black Friday for practically nothing - but Fred says we're "saving" it as a backup. I say we switch to the new one and save the old one, with the stuck H and 4 as our backup.
    Men.
Happy new year to you and your menagerie!
