And just so you don't think that everything is cake and ice cream over here at Crazy as a Loom..................
There's a bunch of drudge jobs to be done on a regular basis.
Like feed the stove.

And the cats, of course.
This morning was packing boxes, printing labels, accounting with Quick Books, and a bunch of phone calls.
Meanwhile, L was packing boxes on the porch, just to give the UPS man something to do.
Ha!
I had a student there all day, too.
She got her warp all wound on just about quitting time.

Some boxes to unpack.

Then my dear friend, Alice, came to my rescue.
Now you all know that I am a working fool. Some say more the fool, but I digress.
For all my energy, I have a terrible time sitting on the floor sewing rugs together. My titanium knee does NOT cooperate, and if I do it, I will walk like a pretzel for hours.
So.............

She totally finished it today, and I am so grateful. She did a good job, and saved me from a lot of pain.

I am going to spend the next couple of weeks trying to weave some shawls, maybe some bags, stuff for the shop. Time for some quiet afternoons, nothing but the sound of the loom.
Isn't it easy to get all wrapped up in your days? They speed by, suddenly it's dinner time, then bedtime. Then it's time to get up and do it all over again. Sometimes I get tired, and I wonder what it all means, but then I am not very motivated to figure it out.
How about you? Do you ever wonder?
Oh yes, I often do wonder what it's all about and my 13 yr old daughter has asked me the same question;
ReplyDeletemy answer sometimes is that it's just good to be alive and to feel the rain on your skin, the wind on your face, hear the birds sing, stroke the cat and feed the children.....
love your photos again today...

I wonder as well. No answers figured out here either. Ah well...the thing is we keep going at it.
ReplyDeleteThank goodness for friends like Alice. She is a jewel! The rug is beautiful!
I wonder all the time... why am I trying so hard? Work, work, work - and for what? No one to share it with, no appreciable amount of accomplishment, no (or very little) time to do the things that you love, and no end or change in sight.... sigh. I've got at least 25 more years of this before I get to retire. If I make it that long. Can you tell it's getting on to winter? I'm always sad when winter is upon us.
ReplyDeleteYou certainly are one busy lady !
ReplyDeleteWhat fine work you create, it must be so fulfilling.
Love your work room by the way.
That rug is HUGE!!!!... How do you do it, I ask. And yes, I wonder constantly, especially since I'm sitting firmly in middle age now.
ReplyDeleteLife does fly by, doesn't it.... sometimes I feel like I'm having the life span of a bug. Very short.
ReplyDeleteCold and wet here too.
Your rugs are lovely and I can't wait to see your shawls!

I wonder too! But sometimes the answer is in loving even the little tasks and doing them with excellence (even when you don't feel like it.
