And just in case you think I am marvelously industrious, I am NOT going to sew it together.
Nope. My titanium knee will not agree to it, so I am not going to do it. My dear friend, Alice, who is most often a life saver, is on the job.
So I got time to have two of my grandchildren overnight.
From Weaving |
My grandson mowed the lawn for me at the studio.
And my granddaughter went to her horseback riding lesson.
And of course there was ice cream.
What's summer without ice cream?
They had fun, and I have fun with them.
From Weaving |
I have seen a lot of all four grandchildren this summer, and I've enjoyed every bit of it.
I figure I better enjoy being a Mimi while I am still able.
Today my grandson asked me what year I was born.
Ouch.
So not being one to mince words, I told him.
He said, "Hmm, you don't look THAT old."
Sweet boy.
I am totally impatient about the state of the Hip to Be Square Looper Loom. Everything is ready except the metal hooks.

It is so nerve wracking.

Especially when I know so many of you are waiting.

I am hoping next week is the week that it all comes together.
Before I forget, I read two books while in Maine. And I just wanted to share them with you.
First was:
From Weaving |
It is a story about the author's friendship with Caroline Knapp, who wrote " A Pack of Two", which I loved.
It is a beautiful book.
But my favorite was a book that was totally unexpected.
From Weaving |
I LOVED this book.
This is the kind of book that makes you wonder why anyone would have the nerve to interrupt you for ANYTHING.
And before I go, I want to share with you a few comments from my Maine vacay.
Ones that stuck in my head.
1.
We were having dinner, the first night we were there. Sitting on the outside deck of the Happy Clam. There was a kids jungle gym a little ways away, and behind that a huge bonfire.
We were all looking at the menu. My oldest daughter said, "Everything is fried."
Silence.
Her sister gave her 'the look', and said. "Have you looked around? There's a bonfire in the back yard, for crying out loud."
2.
My youngest daughter, sitting between my two granddaughters, puts her arms around them, their three faces close together, beaming, "We're on VACAY!"
3.
Ava, "This is the best vacation, EV-AH".
4.
My oldest daughter and I are sitting in the sun room.
I ask.
Do you have any soap?
I have body wash, if you want to take a shower.
I already took a shower.
I thought you didn't have any soap?
I used laundry detergent. It said it was for sensitive skin.
I'm telling my sisters. Oh, I can't wait.
I am soooo getting excited about the potholder loom!!!! As if I'm sitting here with nothing else to do.... :)
ReplyDeleteI think I would love that second book.
ReplyDeleteI love Bruce Cameron and am quite looking forward to reading this book sometime soon. I've been subscribed to his humour column for years.. he never disappoints.
ReplyDeleteSo happy your Vaca was great. Maine has that effect, as you know. I have to pinch myself everytime I realize I get to live here.
ReplyDeleteLooking forward to the books; put them in my Kindle lineup.
Have you read "The Art of Racing in the Rain?"
ReplyDeleteYou must.
I have requested "Let's Take the Long Way Home" from my library on CD---at this point in my life, I like to have my hands free to knit while someone else does the reading. I also loved "A Pack of Two." I stumbled across it right after my last dog had died, and it compelled me to get another one---life is too short to be without all that love in my life. (Although I sometimes forget that when my little BFF poops in the hallway, on the carpet. I'm sure she could tell you about a few choice secrets of mine, as well.)
ReplyDeleteBrenda.
(snip) I used laundry detergent. It said it was for sensitive skin. (end of snip)
ReplyDeleteBWWAAHHHHAAAAHAAAAHAAAAAAAAA
That is soooooooooooooo funny!
