Speak to me

This is the first year in many that I haven't done the local art festival in the park. As last year was ending, I said that I was going to give them up...........shows. Rugs are too heavy to drag around, the economy isn't exactly conducive to people spending their hard earned money at craft shows. And basically, I was just plain tired of it. As was my chief helper, my husband.
The weather has been iffy the last few days.

Today was the first day of the 2 day show.
And it rained.

Buckets.

Sheets.

And I am so proud of myself, cause I listened. Yes. When my gut told me that I should opt out, I listened.
So today, while it poured on the unfortunate 199 vendors in the park, I was warm and dry in the studio, and it was bright.
Bright green, turquoise, gold, light green.

I was stress free, it was quiet, everything was just as it should be.

Ah.........

  1. I'm SOOOOO glad you didn't go this year. Must have been a rough day for the vendors that did go. MY MY... look at that rain coming down. We had a quick rainstorm and then it was done, kaput, over.

  3. I shoulda listened to my gut! Drove 90 miles one way - in the rain - set up inside a barn (was supposed to be in the park) Glad about that! But sold only 2 rugs, 2 purses, and 2 flyswatters. Not exactly a money making day....

  4. There is something to be said about "gut feelings" and reaching a point in your life to actually listen to them.

Your rug looks very cheerful and the pictures you took of the storm are just incredible. Hope tomorrow is a little nicer weather for those poor vendors.

  5. Lovely when we actually listen and get such a strong confirmation that it was the right thing to do. As I get older, I'm gaining confidence in my own judgement and it sounds as though you are too. Just one of the many good things about becoming a "mature" woman.

  11. Your rain is unique to us so I shared the pictures with my family. I really do love your variegated warp. I would never have thought of that on my own!
