I have just started putting these mug mats on my web site. I usually only sell these out of the shop, but since my business seems to be mostly an online business, I figure I better get them on the web site, if I want to sell them at all.
So, just for the heck of it, I am going to give a set of 4 mug mats to one of my readers. The only requirement is that you leave a comment. I will put the names in a basket, and draw a name out on Sunday.
And you get to pick a color!!!! How can ya' hate it????
It is cold here in NY, and I cleaned my fabric mess at the studio. It started with me searching for fabric for a custom rug, and realizing that I couldn't open the door to the pantry, where much of my stash is located. So, once I reached in like an octopus, and pulled enough stuff out the door, so I could open it, I got kind of crazy.
I dragged everything that was on the floor, out. Then I started going through it, organizing it in plastic totes, and finding homes for them. It felt very good to get it done.
I did have time to weave some placemats. I am loving this color.

I also took some time to walk around the yard, to see what I had in store for me......and the answer is, lots of work. Makes me tired just thinking about it.
I bought a snowball bush a couple of years ago, because my mother used to have a gigantic one, that I always loved. This one seems to be thriving.

Ack! I love it all! Love that color with the orange threads on it. I am really no good at picking warp colors. Snowball bushes remind me of my mom too - and walking home from elementary school. Put my name in the hat please!

Roxie over at another blog put some of her snowball flowers into vases with food coloring in the water and the flower petals became tipped with color - much like we used to do with daffodils in the spring as kids. Mine are past that point, but I will do it next year.

That snowball plant brought back a memory of my son at aged 3 or 4 having to apologize to the next door neighbor for whacking off all the petals from his plant. I wish that plant was still there. Now there's a huge pine tree which blocks all the sun in my yard which isn't nearly as green as it should be. Maybe if I tried Benita's food colouring trick in green.. but I dye-grass.. ;)

ReplyDeleteThe mug rugs are great. Is the 'snowball bush' it' s real name. I don't know if I have ever seen one or heard the name but love the look of it and it's name...goes with the weather about now...three nights of frost warnings here in RI and have used the wood stove for the last two days...enough now.

Mug mats! Now that's a thought. I bought a toy 2-harness loom at a show last Fall with the idea that I'd teach myself to use a 2-harness loom. I need to start small because the width of the loom is only about 8 inches. I think I'll go with mug mats instead of the scarves I was thinking of making.
ReplyDeleteI love snowball bushes. When I was a child, we had a HUGE one by the fence next to the house. My mother would drain the wash water from our old wash machine on the back porch onto that bush. Whatever was in that wash water, I don't know, but that snowball bush sure loved it.
I planted one of snowball bushes in my yard also -- but it is under a foot of water right now -- we got totally flooded last night with too much rain too fast -- ugh -- there goes my garden this year...so...it would really cheer me up if I won some of your mug rugs!!!!

Love the pics of the snowball. My MIL used to have one, along with lots of other flowers that we would cut and take to decorate the family graves on Memorial Day. The kids loved shaking off the petals. Love the mats!
