This hill in the distance, had my camera up and poised. But the road was bumpy. I was sure there was a picture waiting for me.
Ah, yes, are you girls twins??? Come out from behind that sign.

Heavens, no, says she on the left.
"She's " much older.

While I am partial to the Adirondacks, I must admit, this part of New York has its charm.

See what you get when you don't have mountains......wind, and lots of it.
Guess it can be a good thing. There were a lot of these.

There were a lot of cars on the road.

I think the reason I loved this next picture was the COLOR. On such a gray day, it was a welcome site.

OK, enough road pictures.....I know all you loomy people out there are DYING to see the looms.
Here is one after I got it in the house.

It was well marked, which was nice. Even though I have put a scad of them together, marked is a good thing.

Ain't she purty??????

Did you see the supplemental warp beam above the sectional??
And it came with a bench.

This is the brake release for the supplemental beam.

I am quite pleased that we got it together. I have never seen one like it before.
Now the other loom is this one's twin. Both Hammett 32" counter balance, 4 harness, 6 treadle.
The other one doesn't have a supplemental beam.
And then, there's a 45" Hammett in the barn, that is also just like these, except for the three metal parts that it is missing.
My plan is to take the three metal parts off the one not put together, and get another set made for the 45".
Then I am going to convince myself to sell one of them, or both.
You see, I don't have any more room, and I am resisting the impulse to count the looms I do have........I think it will scare me right into recovery, and I'm not ready.
Still chuckling at that last line.
ReplyDeleteYes, it is a beauty and I can see why you wanted it. And that scenery is so different from here. Loved it.
What a beauty! And the twin to boot??? You ARE a lucky lady!
ReplyDeleteJust plain beautiful! I would buy one if I didn't already have 3 counterbalance looms, and a 8 harness jack loom! I can only sit at one loom at a time I keep telling myself. My hope is to have each loom set aside for a specific use, rugs, placemats, towels and napkins. That sort of thing. Now if I start making blankets too, does that mean I get to have another loom?
ReplyDeleteWow! I wouldn't know what to do with that thing! It looks like quite a confusing contraption. They are HUGE too. I can see why you would run out of room.
ReplyDeleteI love visiting here. Can you tell me more about the music you have playing?
incredible how manny different looms have been build in USA , thanks for the road pictures.
ReplyDeleteOh I LOVE the pic of the twin trees! How cool is that? Great little Hammets, I wove on one for about 2 years and they sure give great tension an WHAMP in the weft good!

I know nothing about looms other than that they are lovely to look at and create lovely art! Yes art!

Looms look great! I had a 45 inch Hammett which I used for weaving rugs and blankets. It took up to much room in my studio so I ended up giving it away but sure was a great loom.
ReplyDeleteI'd be jealous but it would be a waste of time so I'll enjoy yours and congratulate you on such a wonderful find. Thanks for the pictures. When we drove up to the Maryland Sheep and Wool show from D.C,, it make my head swim to think of the deep history we were driving through. It's such a pleasure to see where Johnny Tremain or his contemporaries might have trod.
