A day in the life.....

The end of summer, and two of my grandchildren came to stay for a couple of days.

Here is Ava, chilling out on her great grandmother's lap.
Nanny doesn't look like she is 84, does she?

It was a beautiful September day. We spent it at the studio. The kids are used to being there, it is like home to them. They play inside, they play outside. Occasionally, they get on the computer, but not for long. I just tell them they don't need it, and they are fine with that.
I am amazed most of the time how well they amuse themselves, and each other.
Remember the kittens that were born under the back of my house in the spring??
Well, Jinx is now 4-5 months old, and she is the princess of the studio.
She isn't used to seeing a lot of kids, and today she was fascinated.
You could almost hear her saying, "Let me play"........"what are you doing?"

She watched from the sidelines for quite a while, being very patient.
Then she just couldn't take it anymore.
"What the heck is that?"

I got some weaving done on the second "replica" rug. I will finish it tomorrow.
I also got a little mowing done around the labyrinth, while the kids were outside.

I have a weaving weekend that starts tomorrow, so a trip to the grocery store is in order tomorrow.

I so appreciate all your comments on my subject of "forgiveness". They were insightful, and they also made me feel even better about my decision to forgive, and move on.

I always wonder in this blog world, if people really want to hear about every day things.....what I am doing, what I am weaving, the basics of my world; or if in fact, you would rather read about subjects with a little more depth.
As I was debating this, a little voice in my head said, "wait a minute, isn't this YOUR blog?"
Hmm.
So true.
So I guess I will write about whatever floats my boat. And you will like it and keep reading, or move on real fast.
Fact is, I love this time of year. I love the long shadows, and the cooler nights. I love the leaves when they start to turn. I love pumpkins, and mums. Going to the apple orchard, picking apples with one hand, and eating them with the other. Cider donuts. It could stay September and October all year long and I would be very happy.

We're going to Maine for a few days, maybe the first week of October. My friends ask me why we are going THEN?
But we love it there when all the crowds have gone, the sun is still warm on the beach, the night air is refreshing, and you can still eat fresh chowder and haddock.
I am not much of a 'lie on the beach' girl anyway.
I would rather mog around antique shops, and traipse through the little towns of Maine.
A drive up Rte 1, a walk on the sand, long lunches, and late dinners.
And just time to spend together, without thinking about what you "should" be doing next.
I can't wait.

But tonight, I am tired. A few games of scrabble, and I am a goner.
But first, I know two little ragamuffins that need baths and hair washings.
Oh, joy.
Eddie is not impressed.

Logan.....Ava.....Mimi wants you.

  1. I love your blog. Do not think of changing it. I am here because of you, the way you talk, work, live, that is what interests me or I would not comment at all.

  3. Your blog, like everything you create, is first and foremost yours. So do what feels right to you!!

And we New Englanders don't necessarily want the word to get out that September and October are probably our two nicest months! Have a great trip to Maine in October....it's the perfect time to visit!

  4. Yes it's YOUR blog... I try in vain to make other bloggers understand that when they stress about the content on their blog and how they are so afraid of offending someone (especially when it comes to politics) Other bloggers sometimes get offended when another blogger's ideas differ from their own.. I say "too bad, just move along to another blog". We can't please all the people all the time now can we?

What was Jinx so interested in. I would have liked to take a better look at that blue thing too!
Eddie looked like he was right behind you in the tired department.
    And Maine in October...perfect!

  7. I have always loved September, too. And still do; the changes to Autumn are subtle here in FL but they are there. Blogs should reflect the blogger so I guess you are doing it just right! (Isn't being a grandparent wonderful.....?)

  8. Blog as you please and don't apologize, the blog and it's content belong to you. I simply love it, because it's a picture of your life, which is different than mine or anyone else's therefore I find it interesting. If we all blogged about the same stuff we wouldn't read any blogs LOL...

  9. That kitty's face is so expressive! So nice to enjoy the season, your grand kids, your mom (or MIL?) and life in general. And yes, of course your blog is your space to share as you want. And that's exactly what your readers enjoy. The only taste you need to tailor your posts for is your own.

  10. Hilary....that's my mom.....I have more gray hair than she does.
And thanks to you, and everyone, for telling me what I knew deep down, but questioned.
I think we must confuse people with our same name....or they think I am writing to myself, which I actually do anyway.
