He's baaaaaaack.

You know I anguished over giving Next and Enough away.  I did it because I thought they would have a good home, and not be outside all winter.  They have barely been gone 2 weeks, and today, look who showed up on my back porch.

Next  traveled a mile through farmland to get back to the studio.
He was very hungry.
I guess I should have asked him if he wanted a "better home" than I could give him.
Not hard to figure out what he would have said.

I called the lady that took them, she said he had been gone since Monday or Tuesday.   L says he must not have a very good nose, if it took him that long.
Enough has been missing for two days, so I am hoping that he will find his way back, too.
I am feeling very guilty.   I never expected them to be so attached that they would want to leave a perfectly good place, to come back to the studio.

After only a minute or two of hesitation, Next let me pick him up.   He buried his face under my arm, and purred loudly, as I stood with him in my arms, talking softly to him.
Yes, L, you are CORRECT.
I am GLAD he is back.  Very, very glad.
He belongs here.
I just hope Enough makes it back in one piece, as well.

Just look at that face.
What a sweet boy you are, Next.
I hope you will forgive me.

Oh you are one lucky woman to be so loved!

I had a sneaking suspicion that might possibly happen. He's so yours. Enough will be along shortly. Try wandering the route while calling him. And there's nothing for them to forgive. You want the best for them.. they know that. They also know that that's you.

I hope Enough comes along soon. I like the idea of walking along the route and calling out.

What a happy boy! Enough will be home soon. These boys know a good thing when they see it. You have nothing to be forgiven for, you did everything with love in your heart. The cats know you love them. Welcome home Next!

Aww, how sweet !
He indeed thought his home there at the studio was just perfect, and was determined to return. I wonder if both cats were traveling together, and one got sidetracked ?
Welcome home Next....he's one happy little fella >^..^<

Oh Hilary, I must have missed the post when you gave them a new home. Just as well, I know your porch is the right place for them. Well, for Next anyway. I suppose Enough will be along soon, wondering why you thought they needed to go off on vacation. Welcome home, kitty.

Yep, the same thing happened to me. I was full up with cats (4) so found a home for the newest fifth one. Well four days later and traveling 7 miles, Dexter returned! He's been living on our patio and garage ever since and that was two years ago. You just have to accept the inevitable and buy them an electric heated bed so they are comfortable come winter. Welcome home little one! Mary A

I must have missed the post about giving them away. I am so glad he found his way home again! Hopefully Enough will be alright.
Sounds like Next needs to spend the winter indoors?

I must have missed something. I didn't realize they had gone to a new home. Oh Hilary, you might as well face it. When a cat falls in love they will pine for you forever. I gave a cat away once and after a few days the lady called and said she had been sitting in the window crying for three days and wouldn't eat. I went right over and brought her home and she lived with me for 17 more years. I agree with Cat Guy. Maybe a little help home is all Enough needs. Good luck to him. Hope you had a better day today. I think about you a lot. Deb

Ya can't buy love like that. If life was that bad for them, they wouldn't have stuck around. I hope Enough gets home safely.
They are happy and safe there. Keep it that way.

Cats are amazing, that's why i bottle raise orphaned kittens. None of them have ever, after adoption, found their way back.

Your home is the home they want, even if you don't think it's perfect. Enjoy Next, and i hope Enough comes along by morning.

But just think, in September when Next has to write the essay "How I spent My Summer Vacation" what adventures he will be able to write! So glad he is home.

What a darling boy. Next knows where he wants to be, and with whom. Hope Enough shows up very soon. Don't feel badly, Hillary. They know who loves them. Becky

I don't know how I missed the post about the cats being given away. I am so glad Next made it home safe. I do hope Enough makes it home. Just let them stay inside with you and the other fur babies, that is the best place for them. They will be safe and warm. They really love you so much they left the other place looking for you, like the movi, Lassie. I wonder why the lady didn't call you so you could have been looking for them. Let us know about Enough.
